The biggest surprise during this trip to Xiamen was staying at the Lin Family Mansion Hotel on Gulangyu Island! This century-old building transformed into a Republic of China-style hotel perfectly blends historical charm with modern luxury. From the butler service to the specialty cuisine, everything impressed me. 🏛️ A century-old Republic of China mansion The hotel was originally the ancestral home of the Lin family from Banqiao, Taiwan. The three connected villas exude a strong sense of history. I especially loved the floral tile floors and vintage telephones in the rooms—super photogenic! The best part is that every room is equipped with modern bathrooms, and bath salts are thoughtfully provided next to the bathtub. 💁‍♀️ Butler service that wins hearts Before arriving on the island, the butler sent a detailed guide, and there was someone at the pier to help with luggage. Every day when returning to the room, we found handwritten cards and snacks waiting. Even my mom’s qipao was neatly ironed. The biggest surprise was that the restaurant staff remembered we liked peanut soup and proactively refilled it at breakfast the next day~ 🍽️ Taste of Gulangyu You must try the breakfast satay noodles! The freshly cooked broth with your choice of seafood ingredients is even more authentic than the old famous shops outside.
