Zhongmu County is a county under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province, and is part of the eastern new city of Zhengzhou. It was historically known as Putian and Mouzhou, located in the heartland of the Central Plains and on the banks of the Yellow River, bordering the central urban area of Zhengzhou to the west and the ancient capital of Kaifeng to the east. Zhongmu County is situated in the overlapping development region of the Central Plains urban cluster, the Zhengzhou metropolitan area, and the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone (Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone). As of 2017, the total area of Zhongmu County is 917 square kilometers. Historically known as Putian and Mouzhou, the county has been established since the early Western Han Dynasty, with a history of more than 2,200 years. It was the site of the earliest slave uprising, the Huaiyi Ze Uprising, and the Battle of Guandu in history. It is also the hometown of the handsome Pan An and the national hero Shi Kefa, among other historical figures.
