Nanjing becomes a ink-wash painting after the snow
At 6:58 this morning, a photo of Linggu Temple in Nanjing after the snow was taken on December 16, 2023.
I woke up with a start at the alarm of 5:35, and arrived at Linggu Temple Road at 6:50.
The Wutong Avenue is even more beautiful after a light snowfall. I went straight to Linggu Temple along Linggu Temple Road, took off, landed, and finished shooting.
I was lucky to encounter a little orange cat playing in front of Linggu Tower. In addition, there will be a cow cat and a tabby cat near the Wuliang Hall and the side door of Linggu Temple. You can bring some cat food or ham sausage to feed them. It's hard to survive in the cold.

Linggu Temple in Nanjing | Miss the magnolia flowers here, and you'll have to wait another year
Linggu Temple in Nanjing, located in the Zhongshan Scenic Area, is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Nanjing and was also a royal temple built by the order of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty.
After enduring the vicissitudes of time, it remains tranquil and solemn, narrating stories of a thousand years. Nestled in a mountain hollow, the temple is surrounded by ancient towering trees, creating a serene environment. A majestic mountain gate inscribed with the words 'Linggu Zen Temple' in bold and powerful strokes stands imposingly at the entrance.
In Linggu Temple, two tall magnolia trees bloom in their prime from early to mid-March each year, standing against the backdrop of yellow walls and black tiles, offering a unique sense of coolness, elegance, and secluded beauty that is characteristic of the Jiangnan region.
The place is steeped in history and rich cultural heritage, prompting visitors to reflect on the meaning of life. Nanjing Linggu Temple is not only a temple with a long history but also a place for spiritual purification.

The white magnolias at Linggu Temple are truly breathtaking
With the arrival of spring and clear skies, the white magnolias at Linggu Temple are stunningly beautiful.
Walking along the flower-laden paths of Nanjing in spring, every step is a journey through blossoms.
I thought the white magnolias at Chaotian Palace were already quite impressive,
until I visited Linggu Temple,
and realized just how exquisite the white magnolias there could be.
The pristine magnolia flowers complement the simple and dignified Linggu Temple, bringing joy to all who see them.
I think this must be what the poets describe as the harmony of spring and scenery.
Spring in Nanjing is truly worth looking forward to.
Little tips: The magnolia flowers are expected to be in full bloom around March 7th or 8th, but the blooming period is very short, only three to five days, so plan your trip in advance.
- Update Divider for March 14 -
This year, the weather in Nanjing has been colder, and the magnolias have bloomed a bit later than in previous years.
However, the magnolias at Linggu Temple have started to bloom these past few days, and it's already possible to go and take photos. It is expected that they will be in full bloom in another two or three days.
Photography location: Inside Linggu Temple, admission is 35 yuan, annual pass accepted.

Spring Cycling in Nanjing—Golden Zijin Mountain
🖼 The Zijin Mountain in early spring has not yet turned green, but it is already a splendid golden yellow!
📍 Upon entering the Zijin Mountain Scenic Area, there are cycling and walking greenways in different directions. The Huanling Road is particularly spectacular due to the addition of plane trees. Starting from the Sports College or Zijin Mountain Sports Park, the route passes through Linggu Temple Road to the Northwest Reservoir and then to Liuhui Pavilion. The total length is about 4 kilometers.
1.🌳 When it comes to Zijin Mountain Sports Park, many people may not be familiar with it, but the solitary tree on the hillside is an absolutely popular spot for social media check-ins! Wedding photos, portrait photos, couple photos, family photos, or just casual snaps, anyone who comes here has to take a picture with it.
🦋 On a good day, various kites also become an embellishment under the blue sky and white clouds, and of course, there are also 'large paragliding equipment'. Looking far into the Zijin Mountain, the greenery has also begun! The chrysanthemums on the side of Huanling Road are in full bloom, colorful and extremely beautiful!
2.🖼 The Northwest Reservoir on the side of Linggu Temple is also a must-visit scenic spot for me every time I come here. Of course, I also have pictures of its different scenery in all four seasons. Especially that tall and majestic tree, its reflection in the water, the scenery in late autumn is the most stunning!
3.🖼 From the greenway beside Linggu Temple Road heading north, Liuhui Pavilion is my favorite scenery in Zijin Mountain. Each season has its own colors, green in spring and summer, colorful in autumn, and snowy white in winter! Coupled with Zijin Mountain as a backdrop, and encountering such blue skies and white clouds, with the lake reflecting the scenery, occasionally ducks and water birds, or ripples caused by a gentle breeze, the artistic conception is even better! No wonder it is also a 180-degree check-in spot for photography enthusiasts! Mid-November is the most beautiful time here!
4. From Linggu Temple Road to Post Office Road, it is also a straight greenway, where there is the Republic of China Post Office Museum.

Life advice, don't leave Nanjing until you've seen the wintersweet in these 6 places
Autumn in Nanjing has come to an end, the leaves of ginkgo and plane trees are falling, and winter is quietly approaching. In addition to looking forward to the snowflakes flying all over the sky, are you also looking forward to the heartwarming fragrance of wintersweet?
The wintersweet flowering period in Nanjing is from the end of December to the beginning of February. I have already prepared the most comprehensive guide for you to enjoy wintersweet! Only after seeing the wintersweet in these 6 places can you truly experience the winter in Nanjing.
Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum: Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum should be the place with the most wintersweet flowers in Nanjing city. The wintersweet is mainly concentrated inside and outside the Xiaoling Wenwu Fangmen. When the flowers are in full bloom, the fragrance is intoxicating. The red palace wall and the yellow wintersweet, if you encounter a heavy snow, it's really stunning!
Ticket: 70 yuan, park annual card can be used, free admission before 6:30 am and after 6:30 pm
Transportation: Exit 1 of Muxuyuan Station on Subway Line 2, turn left and walk 300 meters to Gate 3 of Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum Scenic Area
Linggu Temple: Linggu Temple only has one or two wintersweet trees, which are quite large. When the flowers bloom, the tree is golden. In January of this year, I was fortunate to photograph the wintersweet in the snow here. The ancient temple and the wintersweet complement each other, very beautiful.
Ticket: 35 yuan, park annual card can be used
Transportation: Xiaolingwei Station on Subway Line 2, transfer to Bus 202 to Linggu Temple Station
Zhan Garden: Speaking of wintersweet in Nanjing, we must mention Zhan Garden. The wintersweet here is relatively scattered, and you may see it at an unexpected corner. The wintersweet in the rain is worth seeing. When the palace lanterns light up, it's completely like a dream of a garden.
Ticket: 30 yuan, park annual card can be used, closed on Mondays
Transportation: Sanshanjie Station on Subway Line 1
Pilu Temple: Everyone knows that Pilu Temple has ginkgo and osmanthus, but few people know that there is also wintersweet here. The combination of the red temple building and the yellow wintersweet, compared with Linggu Temple, is another feeling.
Ticket: 25 yuan, park annual card can be used
Transportation: Xianmen Station on Subway Line 2
Ganxi Residence: The wintersweet of Ganxi Residence is concentrated near the main gate of the park. The Chinese-style corridor, lanterns and wintersweet are a beautiful scenery in winter.

The Linggu Temple at the end of November
The Linggu Temple in late autumn is very beautiful, with the impression of Euonymus being profound. You can look at the autumn scenery of the distant mountains from the Linggu Tower. You can buy a combo ticket for the Zhongshan Scenic Area, and there is a vegetarian noodle restaurant in the scenic area, which tastes okay.
