Reluctant to share, this obscure ancient village in Yunnan has almost zero tourists
Reluctant to share, this obscure ancient village in Yunnan has almost zero tourists.
🌲In my mind, the most niche village in Yunnan is not in Dali or Lijiang, but hidden deep in the Nujiang valley, only a 2h drive from these two popular spots, in a village called 'Luoguqing'.
.
🏔This is an ancient Pumi village surrounded by green mountains and ancient trees. If you don't look for it on purpose, you will really miss this isolated utopia. Traditional wooden houses are stacked layer upon layer, with fields and cornfields 🌽 everywhere. Every household still wears traditional Pumi costumes, speaks Pumi language, and shows a simple and kind smile to strangers.
.
Behind the village, there is a large alpine meadow, 🐏🐏 herds of cattle and sheep graze here, the spruce trees are lush, wildflowers are everywhere, log cabins, shepherds, it's like a scene from a fairy tale world.
.
👬There is also a less-known hiking route in Northwest Yunnan — the 24KM Luoguqing Big Sheep Farm trekking route. You can see primeval forests, alpine Danxia, meadows and pastures, and in May-June, there is a sea of azaleas all over the mountains. The highest point is over three thousand meters, which is also suitable for beginners to challenge. And since it's still niche and not many people know about it, the hiking experience is more pure.
.
📍Self-driving navigation location: Lanping Luoguqing, Nujiang.

‼️Tips
1⃣Departing from Lijiang or Dali, half highway + half national road, it takes about 2.5h to arrive. In addition to self-driving, you can also choose to carpool in a business vehicle, which costs about 100 RMB per person from both Lijiang and Dali.
2⃣In the village, there is a newly opened hiking-themed homestay Nujiang·Shujia Wuxiang. The rooms are distributed among Pumi households, but the hardware and design are very aesthetic, and every window offers a view. The accommodation includes guided hiking, bonfire jumping, Pumi home visits, etc.
3⃣In ethnic minority areas, please respect local beliefs

A little-known village in Yunnan with almost zero tourists, you've definitely never heard of it~
Have you been wandering only around popular spots like Dali and Lijiang when you come to Yunnan? Today, I want to recommend to my friends the most niche village in Yunnan that 99% of people have definitely never heard the name of!
Yunnan Nujiang·Luoguqing
This is an ancient and secluded Pumi ethnic village, distributed along the undulating mountains, with patches of grey tiles and red walls. A casual snapshot with your phone is like a scene from a movie, especially in the early morning when the mist is swirling or after the rain clears, the entire forest is filled with clouds, making you feel as if you've traveled back to a village from hundreds of years ago, unconcerned with worldly affairs.
Behind the village lies a vast highland pasture comparable to Xinjiang, where in May and June, wildflowers bloom in abundance, cattle and sheep graze in herds, and secluded wooden cabins stand in rows. Running and frolicking here, feeling the breath of nature, must be a joyful thing.
The Pumi villagers here are simple and kind-hearted. In the morning, they ride horses to herd cattle and sheep on the mountains, and the children are very cute, taking you to pick walnuts; eating at a farmhouse feast, the pork from the free-range black pigs is so good it brings tears to your eyes, and at night you can dance around a bonfire, and although uncoordinated, it's so much fun.
Apart from the village scenery and Pumi culture, a hidden hiking trail here also attracts many hiking enthusiasts from far and wide.
Luoguqing Big Sheep Pasture 24KM Hiking Trail, over 1000 meters lower in altitude than Yubeng, also boasts majestic snow-capped mountains, primeval forests, Danxia canyons, and vast flower fields. In May and June, you can see rhododendrons, and in July and August, you can pick matsutake and other mushrooms.
Currently, there are only two or three guesthouses in the village, farm stays, and the wild luxury guesthouse themed on hiking, Nujiang·Shujia Wuxiang, where every window offers a view. Everyone can choose according to their needs.

This is not Xinjiang! This is Rogujing, Nujiang, Yunnan, China's little Switzerland
Rogujing Village is a village under the jurisdiction of Desheng Village Committee, Tongdian Town, Lanping Bai and Pumi Autonomous County, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Rogujing and Liming Qiangui Mountain are located in the same area of Laojun Mountain, with similar sister landforms, both are extraordinary Danxia landforms. There are snow-capped mountains, streams, forest grasslands, blue sky, white clouds, cattle and sheep.
The valley, forest, countryside, and villages are all dyed white, covered with layers of snow, like a white world, giving a feeling of being in 'Switzerland'. The mountains and rivers after the snow are even more magnificent, exploring unknown surprises while hiking in the dense forest.
