Hubei Yichang's Three Gorges Tribe Scenic Area | One of the most beautiful check-in spots in Yichang
The Three Gorges Tribe, how to wander through this earthly paradise like a peach garden.|||Before coming to Yichang, I only knew about the Three Gorges Dam and was unaware of this Three Gorges Tribe. To my surprise, it turned out to be the biggest highlight of my trip. If you ask me where is the most fun and photogenic place in Yichang? My answer would definitely be the Three Gorges Tribe.
The Three Gorges Tribe is located within the Xiling Gorge of the Three Gorges, consisting of mountain homes, water homes, and streamside homes. You can appreciate the natural scenery of the Three Gorges by taking a cruise or driving here. There are performances every day in the scenic area where you can experience the Ba and Chu cultures of the Three Gorges.
📌Best way to play:
✅It is recommended to spend a day here, you can take a boat in and out, or take a boat in and drive out.
✅Depart around 8 am and take a boat back at 4 pm, then take a bus to Wanda Tourist Center or Yichang East Station.
⛴️How to play?
The most fun and photogenic is the water homes, if time is limited you can skip the mountain homes
🔶Water Homes
At the confluence of Longjin Creek and the Yangtze River, several ancient sailboats stand against the wind, and fishing boats spread their nets, making it the most picturesque spot for photography. There is also a performance of boatmen's chants, where you can see the almost extinct image of the Three Gorges trackers.
🔶Streamside Homes
Continue walking into the mountains from the water homes. Nestled against the mountain and half on land, half in the water, here you can watch the performance of 'crying marriage'. The path along Longjin Creek goes in from the left and out from the right, and when you reach Monkey Mountain, you can head back.
🔶Mountain Homes
Even if you buy a ticket for the escalator, you still need to climb the mountain, which is not very friendly for the elderly with mobility issues.
Here you can visit the Tujia stilt houses, which are called 'pole-and-lintel' architecture by modern architects. The terrain around the Gorge River is rugged, and houses are often built against the mountain. Don't miss the performance at Bawang Fort, which has a strong ethnic minority atmosphere of the Three Gorges riverside.
📸Photography Tips:
1️⃣ It is recommended to bring a telephoto lens to capture the water homes and the local actors on the opposite bank, as well as the monkeys, which all require a telephoto lens to bring the scene closer.
2️⃣ If you want to take portraits, mountain homes have minority costumes for rent
3️⃣ White dresses or minority costumes are both suitable for shooting water homes and streamside homes
📌Travel Tips:
🔸Arrive in the morning and first go to the mountain homes, then play in the water homes after coming down the mountain.
🔸Be sure to pick a good weather day. It's very stuffy in the canyon, otherwise climbing and walking is like being in a sauna
🔸Be sure to wear a pair of comfortable shoes, as there's a lot of walking involved
🎫Ticket:
🔸Boat in and drive out: 210
🔸Boat in and out + bus: 248
⏰Business hours: 08:00-17:30
🚘🚢Transportation: You can drive there or take a boat

One-day tour in Yichang, Hubei
Coming to my mother's hometown, I was recommended to visit the Three Gorges Home, which is really worth it!!
Ticket + Entrance Fee:
The ticket includes both the boat ticket and the entrance fee, remember to keep it all day, it's needed for the return trip, no extra ticket is required for performances in the scenic spot.
The boat ticket is divided into second class (258r), first class (298r), and top class (378r). We sat in the top class, which includes high-end tables and chairs, snacks, fruit plates, canvas bags, dolls, and you can enjoy the exclusive deck of the top class! Sisters who need to take photos can go for it.
Route: Huangbaihe Wharf - Mountain escalator - Shilingpai - Blacksmith's shop - Bawang Palace - 🌟Tea Salt Ancient Road (small shops and performances) - 🌟Three Trees Square (performance) - Lansheng Building - 🌟Longjin Creek (the most recommended place! The clear green water is super beautiful,) - Wedding Building (performance) - Return to the wharf
ps. There are many mountain roads, so it is recommended to buy a 30r mountain escalator ticket.
Performances:
Three Trees Square: Performances at half past the hour (such as 13:30, 14:30...) are very worthwhile! It is recommended to go and occupy a seat 20 minutes in advance, the songs and dances are very exciting, the high pitch is too strong, and the ethnic characteristics of the Tujia people are very distinctive.
Wedding Building: Performances on the hour (such as 13:00, 14:30...) If you don't have time, you can skip it. The performance content is the wedding process of the Tujia people.
Schedule:
11:00 Arrive at the wharf - 11:50 Take the boat - 12:50 Arrive at the foot of the mountain and have lunch - 13:30 Take the escalator - 14:30 Performance at Three Trees Square - 16:00 Performance at Wedding Building - 16:15 Return - 17:00 Cruise back to Yichang - 18:00 Arrive in Yichang
ps. Remember to return in time, otherwise there may be no boat at 17:00.
Food Recommendations:
There is not much to eat in the Three Gorges Home, the farmhouse is not expensive, but it is not very delicious, it is recommended to go back to Yichang to eat.
You can try: fatty fish (hot pot), Hang potatoes, hot dry noodles.
Outfit Recommendations:
You can rent Tujia costumes on the mountain (available at Three Trees Square and Mingyue Pavilion) for a very cheap 30r.
If you dress yourself, it is recommended to be a bit elegant, it will be very photogenic against the green water of Longjin Creek! What I wore is in p6.
You can wear waterproof shoes, some places on the mountain will accumulate water after the rain, be careful to slip.
