Wandering in Zhejiang—Jiaxing
Ping Mountain Tour
Jiaxing, known as the source of Jiahe, is a city named after rice. Jiaxing is famous for its zongzi, and Jiaxing zongzi is a specialty snack of the city, with the most famous being Wufangzhai zongzi; I am a foodie, and when traveling to Jiaxing, how can I not go to Wufangzhai to taste the zongzi of Jiaxing... After a satisfying meal, near the waterside pavilion, stroll around the 'Moonlight' in the hearts of Jiaxing people—Ping Mountain Park
Ping Mountain is located on the north side of the central section of Jiaxing City Center Road, (next to the Wufangzhai main store), and to the east of Jianguo Road. Ping Mountain is only 15.6 meters high; although it is called a mountain, it is actually a large earthen mound. Jiaxing is located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Delta, a typical alluvial plain with flat terrain and no prominent peaks; therefore, Ping Mountain is considered the highest mountain in Jiaxing, and today this mountain has been turned into a park.
Ping Mountain Park is a cultural attraction in Jiaxing. There are various folk tales about the origin of Ping Mountain... I tend to believe in the official history, because only the official history is the authoritative version. I did a Baidu search... There is a record in the Qing Dynasty 'Jiaxing Prefecture Records': 'During the Song Dynasty, wine affairs were placed here, and the abandoned wares accumulated over time to form a mountain.' So I think this explanation is the most reliable.
Ping Mountain in Jiaxing is a place that is rarely visited by tourists from other places, but this does not affect its historical status. Ping Mountain is one of the 'Eight Scenic Spots of Jiahe' in Jiaxing during the Qing Dynasty, 'Ping Mountain Accumulated Snow'; in front of the gate of Ping Mountain Park, there is a Ming Dynasty ancient well pavilion with a stele, and as you ascend the steps, there is a stone archway. The archway is inscribed with the famous garden master Chen Congzhou's handwriting 'Ping Mountain'; on the stone pillars on both sides of the stone archway, there is a poem titled 'Ping Mountain Accumulated Snow', written by Xu Yaoguang, the prefect of Jiaxing during the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, which reads: 'Try to climb Ping Mountain before it gets cold, the pavilions and white jade lean against the railing. The snow clears and the spring comes early in the sea country, mixed with the plum blossoms for a uniform view.' The silver-clad Hecheng must be especially enchanting; but to experience the snowfall in Jiangnan is probably very rare... The beautiful artistic conception of the ancients in 'Ping Mountain Accumulated Snow' makes me yearn...
Ascending for a panoramic view, I regret not experiencing 'Accumulated Snow on Ping Mountain', but a visit to Ping Mountain is not in vain... History is silent, but cultural relics speak. Ping Mountain is worth savoring! Shanghai·China

Jiaxing Pingshan Park
Jiaxing Pingshan Park, a small hill only 15.8 meters high, is named for the mountain of discarded bottles formed when King Goujian of Yue bid farewell to Fan Li with three thousand jars of wine, and when Emperor Gaozong of Song presented Han Shizhong with one hundred thousand jars of wine. It is a quiet and mini garden in the city center, with tall trees that make a walk in the summer cool and comfortable, and those ancient stories also flash through the mind.
