A visit to Sintra is not complete without visiting Quinta da Regaleira, one of the most beautiful estates classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO within the "Cultural Landscape of Sintra". Quinta da Regaleira is a neo-gothic mansion designed and built in the late 1800s. The major attractions of the mansion are its picturesque gardens and the iconic initiation well. The initiation well is not a real well as a source of water. It is an underground tower in the Quinta da Regaleira built for ceremonial purposes. It consists of a 27-metre spiral staircase about 6 storeys high. At the bottom of the well are two main tunnels, one of which leads to the outdoor garden. It was truly a surreal and magical experience walking down the well and through the tunnels!

🇨🇭 Musegg Wall in Lucerne
One of the most iconic landmarks that you should not miss in Lucerne is the Musegg Wall built in the 14th century. It is about 15 minutes walk from Lucerne train station. As the wall is located on a hill so be prepared to climb stairs and slopes. There are 9 watchtowers along the 870-m long city wall, 4 of which are open to public (free admission) during non-winter months.
We were not able to walk on the city wall as we visited during winter so we explored the area inside the city wall. A local that we met suggested that we walked along the outer wall to have a great view of the city. We were indeed greeted with a panoramic views of Lucerne city with a backdrop of Lake Lucerne and Swiss Alps as we explored the area outside the wall. Make sure to climb the watch towers of you visit during summer as I'm sure the views from the watch towers will be even more spectacular!

In 1993, a large portion of the bridge was destroyed by a fire, but extensive restoration efforts were made to rebuild it to its former glory. We thoroughly enjoyed strolling across the Chapel Bridge, soaking up the beautiful views, and exploring the Old Town on both sides of the river.

🇵🇹 Day trip to Sintra and Cabo da Roca
Sintra is a UNESCO world heritage site in Portugal famed for its historic palaces and castles. It is about 50 minutes from Lisbon by train so you can easily make a day trip to Sintra while you're in Lisbon.

It may be cheaper to go from one location to another by Uber or other ride hiring platforms instead of hiring tour guides touting outside Sintra train station. The tour guide we hired charged us 35 euros per pax by fetching us from point A to point B.
