Trip Moments Recommendations
Lijiang Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Attractions
In order to fully immerse yourself in the diverse mountain vistas, I highly recommend exploring all the attractions nestled in the mountainous regions.
Attractions - Recommended duration within the premise
1. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain 玉龙雪山 - 1-2 hrs climb *Highly Recommended*
2. Yaks Pasture 牦牛坪 - 2-3 hrs walk *Highly Recommended*
3. Yun Shan Ping 云杉坪 - 1-2 hrs walk
4. Blue Moon Valley 蓝月谷 - 1-2 hrs walk *Highly Recommended*
5. Impressions Lijiang 印象丽江 - 1 hr show
Recommended Itinerary:
Day 1: Attraction 1 > 4 > 5
Day 2: Attraction 2 > 4 > 3
Important Reminders: Allocate time for waiting in line for the bus/cable car and for the actual ride itself. The bus ride from the Tourist Center to the various cable car lines varies. The longest bus ride, to Yaks Pasture, takes about 40-50 minutes, while the others should be within 10-20 minutes. We spent approximately an hour waiting in line for both bus and cable car just to ascend Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. However, queues for other attractions were still manageable. Do note that this was during low peak period.

2 Day Itinerary in Lijiang🇨🇳
#cherryblossom2024
Yunnan Province is one of the most beautiful provinces in China and it has one of the most captivating cities in China too.
Lijiang took my heart. It such a calm and interesting city with many spots to enjoy and visit. However in this post, I would highlight 2 best places to experience and see.
1. Lijiang Ancient Town- if you want to see a 100 year old of history then coming to Lijiang ancient town is really one for the books. It is a Unesco World Heritage with old architecture of establishments. There are many shops and restaurants around so you won’t het bored.
Recommended length of visit- 3-4 hours.
2. Yulong Snow Mountain- this needs an entire day trip. I also recommend to book a package deal to ho to those mountain and everything will be taken cared of. From pick up to taking you back to your hotel, entrance tickets to the tourists spots in the mountain, cable car and of course oxygen bottles.
Please be reminded that going to the snow mountain requires you to be physically fit or you don’t have any heart conditions. The tip of the mountain which is the highlight if your trip is around 3800 meters above sea level so it is possible to experience chest tightness and breathless.

Yubeng | Hiker’s Paradise
If you are looking for a little off road experience and breathtaking views, visit Yubeng in Yunnan.
I combined my trip to Yubeng with a visit to Shangrila as both are not too far from each other.
There are only 2 ways you can access this small village nestled between mountains ranges. You hike in for 4-6 hours or take an off road Jeep for 20-30mins that takes you through winding paths through the mountains - can be tricky if you are the car sick type.
I went in winter - can be quite cold if you are planning to hike and some of the hikes can be quite tough. You need ice crampons. Some of the easier routes are very well marked and harder ones are not.
I would go again in spring/summer as I was told the views are completely different and the hiking trails are a little easier. You can also see fields of wildflowers blooming in Spring.

DALI COFFEE LOVERS! This one is for you!
小浓造物咖啡 Little Farmer Coffee
This coffee shop is not only aesthetically beautiful, the barista’s are both super friendly and wildly knowledgeable about their coffee!
It is a perfect little spot to enjoy a great cup of coffee from their excellent menu, soak up some sun in their outdoor area, or chill inside for a chat.
The atmosphere here is really wonderful. I confess I went 4 times during my short trip to Dali and I couldn’t recommend it more.
Give it a try, you are sure to love it!

The Secrets of Shangri-La | China
#falltrip
In China, there is a region known as Shangri-La, which is located in the northwestern part of Yunnan Province. This area was formerly known as Zhongdian County but was officially renamed to Shangri-La County in 2001 as a tribute to the fictional paradise described in James Hilton's novel "Lost Horizon." The renaming was aimed at promoting tourism and capitalizing on the association with the novel's utopian concept of Shangri-La.
Shangri-La in China is situated in a picturesque mountainous region and offers stunning landscapes, including the Meili Snow Mountains and the beautiful Potatso National Park (Pudacuo National Park), which is known for its pristine lakes and diverse flora and fauna. In addition to the snow-capped mountains and pristine lakes, Shangri-La is also known for its alpine meadows, forests, and the Dongzhulin Waterfall. It's a place of natural wonder with numerous opportunities for outdoor activities like trekking and horseback riding. It has become a popular tourist destination for those looking to experience the natural beauty of Yunnan Province and explore the rich Tibetan culture and heritage in the area.
Often referred to as the "Little Potala Palace," Songzanlin Monastery is a significant Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Shangri-La. It boasts traditional Tibetan architecture and intricate artwork. Shangri-La is home to a significant Tibetan population, and you can experience and learn about Tibetan culture and traditions in the region. Thai Vibes in China!
Gaozhuang Night Market, in Jinghong City, is one of the top places to experience when travelling to Xishuangbanna.
Located between the JinHong Golden Pagoda and Mekong River, the market occupies a huge square. You will fund hundred of stores and shops selling everything from fresh food, toys and handicrafts to exclusive tea sets made by famous artists.
Xishuangbanna, known as "Little Thailand," is renowned for its unique Dai culture. The Gaozhuang Night Market, also called Starlight Night Market is located at the foot of the iconic Hongjing Grand Golden Pagoda, the epitome of Dai architecture. Here, you can capture the religious ambiance, architectural beauty, and local cultural elements all in one place.
The majestic Pagoda stands at a height of 66.6 metres, symbolizing the connection of six countries: China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
The bustling Gaozhuang Night Market(Starlight Night Market)sits just behind the pagoda and is the largest and most distinctive night market in the Golden Triangle. Every corner of the market holds surprises waiting to be discovered.

My Kunming highlights
#fallingseason
The city of spring is one of my absolute favorite places in China. It is mainly used as a hub city for transportation to other cities in Yunnan province but I do recommend spending some time there if the opportunity comes. Here are some of my recommendations:
🕊️Green lake park
Very famous for the seagulls by the lake in winter time from November to May.
🏫Former Yunnan army lecture hall
Nice building with a nice cafe inside that sells ice cream 🍦
☕️ Salvador’s coffee house
I came here first time in 2005 and it’s still here. They have excellent western food that is good for breakfast lunch and dinner as well. Very good vegetarian options.
🏯 Yuantong Temple
Built during Tang dynasty, beautiful buildings in the city center. Worth a visit if you have time.
🏨 Silver Chest Boutique Hotel
Amazing little hotel with unique Chinese style but with modern facilities. Amazing courtyard and beautiful library

Puzhehei's Tranquil Waters & Lotus Blooms
🌿 **Puzhehei, Yunnan: A Journey Through Nature's Gallery** 🌿
📍 **Nature's Wonderland**
Nestled in Yunnan's embrace, Puzhehei unfolds as a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. As I ventured into this scenic wonderland, I found myself immersed in a landscape straight out of a painting – tranquil lakes, lush karst formations, and vibrant lotus flowers creating a symphony of colors.
🚣 **Boat Odyssey**
Exploring Puzhehei's lakes is a serene odyssey. Drifting on a bamboo raft, I was greeted by reflections so perfect they seemed to merge the real and the mirrored. The karst peaks mirrored on the water's surface created an ethereal panorama that was pure poetry.
💡 **Travel Tip:** Engage a local boat guide to learn about the area's folklore and hidden spots while gliding through the lakes.
🌸 **Lotus Dreamscape**
Puzhehei's lotus ponds are a sight to behold. As I strolled through pathways lined with these delicate flowers, the air was filled with their gentle fragrance. The sight of lotuses in full bloom against the backdrop of the karst mountains was a visual feast for the senses.
💡 **Travel Tip:** Visit during the lotus blooming season, typically from June to August, to witness the ponds adorned with vibrant lotus flowers.
🏞️ **Karst Marvels**
The karst formations that punctuate Puzhehei's landscape are nature's sculptures. I climbed to the top of one of these formations and was rewarded with panoramic views of the entire region. The sight of the sprawling lakes and the distant mountains was truly awe-inspiring.
💡 **Travel Tip:** Wear sturdy shoes if you plan to hike up the karst formations for the best vantage point.
🌌 **Starry Symphony**
As the sun sets over Puzhehei, a different spectacle takes center stage. The night sky emerges as a cosmic masterpiece. Far from the city lights, the constellations and galaxies that grace the heavens seem close enough to touch.
💡 **Travel Tip:** Bring along a telescope or a stargazing app to fully appreciate the brilliance of Puzhehei's night sky.
Puzhehei is a canvas painted by nature's most skilled hand. Its tranquil lakes, blooming lotus ponds, and majestic karst formations create a tapestry that speaks to the heart. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a romantic at heart, or simply seeking solace, Puzhehei promises a journey through a world that feels like a dream brought to life. 🌿✨

Tiger leaping gorge
Tiger leaping gorge is a amazing place to see and go. In between Lijiang and Shangri-La about 1.5hra drive, I got a tour as couldn't drive as a tourist and a taxi there is a bit much. The river is strong and powerful through this area making for a a spectacular sight, the place is busy with tourists but you have enough space to take a photo or videos of the river. There is a lot of steps down and back up I if you can't handle it, you can pay extra to use the escalator which I found strange to pay extra for, I walked it up, overall 1.5hrs there is enough but I could watch it all day. Would be number 1 on the list of places to visit in Yunnan .#yunnan

Kunming’s BEST Skyline View!
Hotel name: Fairfield by Marriott
Location: Shi Zha metro station in Kunming city.
Kunming is a beautiful city in the south west of China. The hotel I recommend staying is Fairfield by Marriott…why? Because it’s modern, clean, in a great location, good beds, great breakfast and a stunning panoramic view of Kunming city.
Tip: Head to the hotel via taxi or take the metro to Shi Zha station. Enter the building and go to floor 23. This is the lobby. As you explore the modern lobby, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the buildings and mountains of Kunming city.

The Streets of Kunming!
Location: Many side streets in Kunming city.
Kunming is a wonderful place to visit during the summer months…why? The weather is mild and not hot AND the streets in this city are quiet, quaint and beautiful. Filled with ancient architecture and luxurious trees, it’s so relaxing to be walking.
Street tips: Qian Ju Jie (钱局街) is nearby the central part and has many trees to walk around.
Also recommend walking from Shi Zha subway stop southwards and get some local food and enjoy the life of the locals.

Balagezong: A hidden beauty of China
If you’re in Yunnan province, make sure to take a trip up to Shanghai-la for some of the most incredible sights, food, and experiences you’ll ever have. Nicholas Michael Soentgerath A day in Dali City
A trip to Dali City could not be complete without a visit to Dali Ancient City and the Three Pagodas of Chong Sheng Temple.
First we headed into the Ancient City of Dali. A fantastic place to walk through with a wide variety of interesting shops. You can buy everything from tea, local art, clothing, and food. I tried some small spicy scorpions which were nice and crunchy.
After leaving the old city you can take a walk for around 2km straight to the Three Pagodas. A nice easy walk with plenty of small local restaurants along the way.
The Three Pagodas look remarkably beautiful. The area is great to walk around, it take around an hour to go around. It is very quiet which makes for a perfect setting to view the Pagodas.

A beautiful windy lake
If you are traveling in Yunnan Erhai is a must see place to visit. A huge beautiful lake with a mountain backdrop.
We stayed at a hotel overlooking the lake with a small outdoor pool to relax in. Relaxing by the pool of an evening overlooking the lake is fantastic. It really gives you chance to enjoy the scenery and take a break.
There are many ways to enjoy seeing the lake from bike rides, road trips, and lakes cruises. You can even get a great view of the lake from the old towns or coffee shops that surround it.
Regardless of how you decide to enjoy your time here, you will be sure to appreciate it. #yunnan #dali #erhailake #yunnantravel
Amazing Puzhehei
Fantastic trip to Puzhehei. Upon arrival we checked into our hotel with a beautiful view of the lake. After taking a walk around the local Village in the evening we stopped for dinner. We tried the local chicken cooked in lotus leaf which was very nice.
The next day after enjoying the local breakfast we headed out on horse and cart to the port to check out thw boat trips. We took a fantastic boat ride to another local Village and stayed there for dinner before. coming back to enjoy the sunset. A must go place, I wish I was stopping longer.#yunnanprovince #yunnan #yunnantravel

"Unwind and Rejuvenate at Club Med Lijiang"
As a fan of Club Med, My stay at Lijiang was absolutely incredible. The resort provided a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. One of the activities that stood out to me was the Yulong Snow Mountain trekking, combined with a stop at the breathtaking Dragon Lady Lake, and a delightful coffee break.
The Yulong Snow Mountain trekking experience was truly awe-inspiring. The towering snow-capped peaks and the untouched natural beauty surrounding us left me in awe. The trek was invigorating, and the views along the way were simply stunning.

Cozy Guesthouse with Garden in Dali
After visiting Dali in Yunnan for several times, this guesthouse is definitely one of my favorites. The design is very nice with light white tones, outside is a nice garden. And the best: It's just in the middle of the old town in a more quiet alley.

Small Paradise: Lijiang Oldtown
Lijiang is a city in the Yunnan mountains. It's quite popular, but didn't loose its charme. I went during off season, it wasn't crowded at all.
🎟️ You don't need a ticket. The old town in Lijiang is for free now.
✈️ The Lijiang airport is not too far from the old town. Busses 🚌 go there for 20RMB. You can also come by train from Dali or Kunming.
You can spend one or two days in the old town and won't get bored, don't worry. There are many Cafés, temples and small hills with a great view over the hilly old town!

Big Buddha Temple at Manting Park
What a wonderful discover! We enjoyed Manting Park and followed directions to Big Buddha Temple, which is right next to the park (you don’t actually need to exit the park). Temple is so full of details, primarily Thai with Burmese elements. Monks and worshippers all around make it an intense experience. We kept it to our last day and definitely stole our heart.

Manting Park - expect the unexpected
Reviews convinced me to devote our last day in Banna to Manting Park. This park is outstanding. It’s worth the walk all around the lake, ending to the Buddha Temple just outside the Park (next to it, connected). There’s rain forest, Dai culture, temples… everything! We spent several hours there admiring the vegetation and engaging in a couple of activities.
Worth mentioning we did not particularly enjoyed the Elephant show and the Parrot area. These two felt more like pure human entertainment. Although we understand the “tourist side” of it, it really doesn’t make justice to the magnificence of this place.
Recommended! #yunnan #xishuangbanna #mantingpark
Spotting elephants in Xishuangbanna!
Xishuangbanna is home to some of China’s most beautiful natural scenery and one of the best places to do that is the elephant sanctuary! It’s a short taxi ride from the night market area and opens at 8am. I would recommend getting there for the opening time and getting a cable car to the other side of the park. When I did this, it was very quiet and the elephants were in full view for about 90 minutes. There are also monkeys around the park that are very cute!
There is an area at the front of the park that has coffee shops and restaurants. I think you could do the whole park in half a day. #nature #elephants #yunnan #china
