The Forbidden City, home of the Emperors
The most iconic cultural heritage of China... the Forbidden City, home of the Emperors!
The Forbidden City was constructed from 1406 to 1420, and was the former Chinese imperial palace and winter residence of the Emperor of China from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty, between 1420 and 1924. It served as the home of Chinese emperors and their households and was the ceremonial and political center of the Chinese government for over 500 years.
The complex consists of 980 buildings, encompassing 8,886 rooms and covering 720,000 m2. It is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world!
This palace is so vast that is impossible to visit all of it at once... this is the 3rd time I have been there, and still haven't finished to see all the beautiful and interesting things that you can admire between these walls!
So glad I got to visit without too many people around this time. Despite the cold temperatures, visiting this majestic place is always such a pleasure!

The Palace - Forbidden City - Beijing
The Palace Museum - the Forbidden City location right in the heart of Beijing.
The palace was opened its doors to public after the very last Emperor of China was evicted in 1925.
Constructed from 1406 to 1420, the museum consists of 980 buildings - once again 980 buildings 😄 so be ready to walk a lot if you are planning to visit the museum. 😁 You will need not less then 3h.
Amazing structures, acres, bridges, and hell a lot of history. Truly stunning. Worth every penny.
If you are in Beijing this is absolutely a must see!
if you’ll go all the way through the grounds of the palace then, there is the Jingshan park just across the street. Once you climb the hill you’ll have a great view of the forbidden city 😍

Beijing, China
If there is one place to admire the chinese architecture will be Beijing. I have been visiting this city already 3 times and I wouldn’t mind to go back. There is so much to see and explore. The city is so different compared to Shanghai but that’s why I like it.
The forbidden city and temple of heaven are the most important things to visit among other touristic spots.
It is a must to visit these places and of course the Great Wall.
Even if I have been there more than once I still have a lot to explore and visit many other temples. I’d like to visit a different section of the wall too.
Beside that you can eat amazing Chinese food and for sure taste the most delicious Pecking duck!

Zijincheng: The Forbidden City
The Forbidden palace may be the world’s largest imperial palace, yet the palace seems so small when you navigate it among the sea of tourists you will encounter on your visit. Nevertheless, this should not stop you from visiting one of the biggest attractions in China that dates from Ming dynasty (completed in 1644).
The city is not only an amazing architectural complex, but has the most important Chinese heritage collection in artwork, artifacts and designs (from gardens to ancient buildings). Most of the buildings are made of wood, which different designs in different areas. If you are very attentive, you will notice there are cats but no birds in the Forbidden City. It is said that most of these cats are descendants of the royal cats owned by of the concubines in Ming and Qing dynasties (all the way from 1368!).
There are few gardens and a small shop inside the city if you want to buy a tiny replica of some relics, or get yourself a nice souvenir. Keep in mind many areas in the city are still closed due to overall renovations.
If you have some additional free time, you can walk a few minutes to Jingshan park. Up the hill you will be able to appreciate the view of the whole city complex (which is approximately 720,000 m2).

Get the touch and feel of the Great Wall of China from over 2000 years ago, to the secrets of the Forbidden City 600 years ago. Strolling down the streets of the old Beijing Hutongs and the spectacular buildings in the CBD area. Be amazed by how simple and convenient it is to ride a bicycle around the city and get a feel of local daily breakfast.
Forbidden City
The Forbidden City is a historic and family-friendly destination, despite the crowds. Its rich history and cultural significance make it a must-visit attraction for ages! #forbiddencity
The Forbidden City
it takes more than an hour to clear numerous ID checks before reaching the main entrance to the Forbidden City. The numerous security personnel were at hand to ensure the crowd was orderly.
One needs to be prepared for the crowd, especially in the Watch Museum and Treasure Gallery. There was no restriction as to the number of visitors going into the room, so one needs to be careful if the room gets too crowded.
A useful tip:
One can easily buy tickets from the official website.
Other online platforms are selling the tickets at double the price.

The Middle Kingdom
I never imagined that I would one day have the opportunity to visit China and Beijing.
I came so far and I didn't regret it.
It was so beautiful, enchanting, it seemed so surreal and at the same time so real, like a dream that I didn't want to end.
I slept looking at the beautifulness of the great wall and woke up with the sun caressing my face at rise.
I worshiped in the temple of heaven and walked the same paths that ancient emperors walked
I was moved, smiled and cried as I immersed myself in a city with thousands of years of history.
I hope to get to know more about this city and this country.

Beijing the capital city of China
Beijing, the heart of China's cultural and historical marvels, is a tapestry of past and present. The Forbidden City, a monumental palace complex, captivates with its imperial grandeur and historical significance, showcasing the opulent life of ancient emperors. A visit there is a step back in time.
The Great Wall, a testament to human ambition and engineering prowess, etches across rugged landscapes, offering awe-inspiring vistas. Walking along its ancient ramparts evokes a sense of wonder and admiration for the generations that built and defended this marvel.
However, the city's modernity isn't overshadowed by its history. Beijing's evolving skyline, advanced infrastructure, and vibrant culture display its contemporary dynamism. The juxtaposition of tradition and progress is evident, making Beijing a city that lives and breathes history while embracing the future with open arms.#北京 #forbiddencity #greatwall
Almost queue jumping but not really
Beat the queues & get the best views without all the stress. Our tour guide helped us get the tickets and avoid the crowds as much as possible, which made the whole experience WAY better than I was expecting after having seen videos of crazy crowds waiting to get into the Forbidden Palace. Couldn’t do much about the heat though haha #tiananmensq #forbiddencity

My very first tourist attraction I visited after moving to China in 2019 #beijing #forbiddencity #expat
The moment I decided to travel ALONE to visit Great wall of China, Peking Opera and Forbidden City in BEIJING, thinking that this is the only chance I will have! And I was right! These pictures were taken last (February 2019) and now Pandemic happened.
Within that Journey I was able to make friends from Pakistan and we are all still connected until now.
