Once the longest railway tunnel, the Caoling Tunnel.
Location: At the border between Gongliao District, New Taipei City, and Toucheng Town, Yilan County
Introduction: The 'Old Caoling Tunnel', with a total length of 2,167 meters, used to connect Fulong to Shicheng. In the early days, the treacherous terrain made travel between Yilan and Taipei extremely difficult, causing great hardship for travelers. During the Japanese colonial period, the construction of the railway was undertaken, with the Caoling Tunnel through the Caoling Mountain Range being the most challenging and dangerous part. The tunnel was completed in February 1924. Later, due to the insufficiency of a single-track operation, a new Caoling Tunnel was constructed in 1986, and the old tunnel was closed and left idle for nearly 20 years. After years of effort by the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration, the tunnel was officially opened on August 10, 2008, as Northern Taiwan's first railway tunnel converted into a cycling tunnel. It has also received international recognition with the 'Tomorrow's Tourism Award WTTC' and was named one of Taiwan's top ten classic cycling routes. Visitors can ride bicycles to experience its original appearance; additionally, the administration also provides two hand-pedaled rail bikes at the northern entrance of the tunnel for free rental to visitors with mobility issues, allowing more people to enjoy the tunnel and feel its nostalgic railway charm.
Opening Hours: 8:30-17:30
Admission: Free
Experience: The Caoling Tunnel was once one of the longest railway tunnels in Taiwan. It's rare to have the opportunity to ride a bicycle through such a long tunnel. Moreover, the tunnel crosses Yilan and New Taipei, and it only takes twenty minutes by bicycle to reach another city, which is a special experience.

Popular Fish Maw Chicken Rice Noodles. Original Pot Hot Chicken Soup Rice Noodles.
In recent years, more and more rice noodle shops have been opening up. One of the reasons why rice noodles are so attractive is the soup base! In addition to the common sour and spicy and numbing spicy flavors, there are also relatively healthy medicinal soup bases. This time, let's try one of the rice noodle shops known for its nourishing ingredients and chicken soup.
✨ Infatuated Chicken
'Infatuated Chicken' specializes in nourishing and rich fish maw chicken thick soup rice noodles. The restaurant selects tender, fat-rich, and flavorful Sanhuang chicken, which is then marinated in a secret Empress chicken marinade, making the chicken even smoother and more flavorful, without any roughness. The soup base is made with more than 20 pounds of chicken, pork bones, and shark cartilage, simmered over high heat for three and a half hours, resulting in a milky white soup that is fresh, sweet, and fragrant.

The chicken pieces are made from Sanhuang chicken, which is quite tender, and there are 4-5 pieces of fish maw, offering a smooth and bouncy texture.

Tender chicken pieces paired with rich and sweet yellow wine, the soup base is aromatic, and with the addition of red dates, Angelica, Szechuan lovage, wood ear mushrooms, and other nourishing medicinal ingredients, it is replenishing without being too dry. The chicken pieces become more flavorful as they cook, and the sweet wine flavor matches well with the chicken! There are also 4-5 pieces of fish maw, very generous in portion.
🥢 Spicy Pig's Ear | $38
Made to order! It's still warm when served, not pre-made and stored in the fridge, which is commendable! The thinly sliced pig's ear has a crisp and bouncy texture, and with the secret spicy sauce, it's very appetizing.

The Famous Landmark of Miaoli, Longteng Broken Bridge
Location: On Miaoli County Highway 49 in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County
Introduction: Longteng, formerly known as 'Fish Vine Flat', is named after a legend where the early settlers were troubled by a carp spirit in the Carp Pond. To subdue the mischievous carp spirit, the settlers planted fish vine throughout the Longteng mountain area. At the same time, they named the high mountain to the east 'Guandao Mountain', with the intention of using Guandao Mountain to cut the fish vine and poison the carp spirit. Eventually, the fish monster ceased to harm the people, and the residents lived and worked in peace and contentment. After World War II, when villages were established in Taiwan, the villagers thought the name 'Fish Vine' was inelegant and renamed it Longteng.
On the morning of April 21, 1935, a major earthquake struck central Taiwan, with the epicenter near Guandao Mountain. The Sanyi area was severely affected, and the majestic Longxi Bridge on the mountain railway line was completely destroyed. After the earthquake, a new bridge was built to the west of the original bridge, leaving behind the arched pillars standing in the sun and wind, as a memorial for future generations. When passing through Sanyi by train, the sight of the Longteng Broken Bridge remnants is striking and leaves a deep impression.
Tickets: Free
Opening Hours: All day
Experience: The Longteng Broken Bridge is certainly one of the very famous attractions. It has taken its current form due to the impact of Taiwan's largest earthquake, the 921 earthquake, which is a stark reminder of the terrifying power of nature. Next to it is the second-generation Longteng railway bridge, allowing visitors to appreciate both the first and second-generation bridges at the same time.

The exhibition showcases around thirty pieces of headwear, costumes, and props from television martial arts dramas spanning from the 1970s to the millennium, allowing the audience to relive the classics and experience the martial arts sentiment.
Many well-known martial arts drama series have been adapted from the works of local famous martial arts novelists, including Jin Yong's 'The Return of the Condor Heroes', 'Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils', 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes', 'The Smiling, Proud Wanderer', Huang Yi's 'A Step into the Past', and Liang Yusheng's 'The White-Haired Witch'. Martial arts TV dramas and their related theme songs and soundtracks bring the literary and martial arts scenes from the novels to life. These classic moments have always been an important element of Hong Kong's pop culture, accompanying many viewers as they grew up.
Selected exhibits for this exhibition include: the hero costume worn by Yang Guo in 'The Return of the Condor Heroes'; the elegant and ethereal white dress worn by Little Dragon Girl; the pink outfit worn by Zhou Zhiruo in 'The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber'; and the costume of Princess Changping (Ah Jiu) in 'Sword Stained with Royal Blood'. Edible Flowers and Herbs Exhibition at Hong Kong Park
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold an Edible Flowers and Herbs Exhibition at the Forsgate Conservatory in Hong Kong Park from April 22 (Monday), allowing citizens to closely appreciate the beauty of various edible flowers and herbs of the spring season.
Hong Kong's spring climate is mild with gradually lengthening daylight hours, which is suitable for the growth of different types of edible flowers and herbs. This themed exhibition displays more than 500 plants of different forms of spring edible flowers and herbs, including fragrant marigolds, dwarf hibiscus, dryland lotus, borage, calendula, and a variety of herbs, etc.
The flowers and leaves of fragrant marigolds have a rich aroma and are all edible. The tender leaves can be used for tea brewing and cooking, and planting them in a herb garden is most appropriate.
The light pink flowers of the dwarf hibiscus are small and exquisite, and although they only last for a short day, they bloom continuously.
The flowers, leaves, and rhizomes of the dryland lotus (also known as golden lotus) are all edible, with a taste as sweet and slightly spicy as mustard, and a crisp and juicy texture, also with a unique scent.
As for herbs, the humid spring is particularly suitable for the growth of mint family plants. Common types include green mint (also known as spearmint), peppermint, grapefruit mint, etc.
In addition to displaying more than 30 types of spring edible flowers and herbs, the exhibition also sets up panels to introduce their characteristics, planting tips, and propagation methods. The exhibition will be held from April 22 to June 10, open daily from 9 am to 5 pm at the Forsgate Conservatory, 19 Cotton Tree Drive, Central, Hong Kong Park. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to visit.

Hong Kong Hotspots | West Kowloon Cultural District | Embracing the Moment of Bubbles Day and Night.
On the second afternoon of the Easter holiday, we went to the West Kowloon Cultural District.
The giant art installation 'Embracing the Moment of Bubbles' on the eastern side of the West Kowloon Cultural District's waterfront lawn is one of the recent hotspots for photo opportunities.
'Embracing the Moment of Bubbles' is one of the activities of the West Kowloon FUN Art Festival.
The giant 'bubbles' reach up to 9 meters high and are on display at the West Kowloon waterfront from now until April 7th.
'Embracing the Moment of Bubbles' was created by the Australian Sydney art team Atelier Sisu and has been exhibited in cities such as Sydney, London, Singapore, and Brussels before, with Hong Kong being the 44th city to host the exhibition.
The 'bubbles' are made of glass filter materials, which show blue and purple colors under the sunlight at different angles during the day.
In addition to the three giant 'bubbles', there are also more than fifty 'small bubbles'.
We also encountered the 'Duckling' promoting 'Art in Hong Kong'.
We went to West Kowloon again on the evening of Ching Ming Festival, and 'Embracing the Moment of Bubbles' offers different visual effects during the day and night, making it worth visiting more than once.
The illuminated giant 'bubbles' are too beautiful.
'Night Fun West Kowloon' was an unexpected gain.
Hong Kong Space Museum presents the new 3D dome film 'Polar Extremes 3D'.
Starting from April 1st (Monday), the Hong Kong Space Museum's Stanley Ho Space Theatre will be screening the new 3D dome film 'Polar Extremes 3D', taking audiences on an exploration of Antarctica.
Antarctica is the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth. 'Polar Extremes 3D' will lead audiences deep into the Antarctic animal world, starting with a dive beneath the ice into a vibrant underwater world, then returning to the surface to join a large penguin colony, and finally enjoying what may be the most whales ever seen on screen. Whales play a key role in mitigating climate change, and the film not only provides a visual spectacle for viewers but also helps them understand the impact of human overhunting of whales on climate change. With global temperatures rising, the film prompts humans to reflect and take action to protect the Antarctic ecosystem, to prevent climate change from disrupting its balance and further affecting the whole world.
The program is 24 minutes long and will be shown until January 13, 2025. Screening times are 2:00 PM and 6:30 PM on weekdays; and 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM on weekends and public holidays. Ticket prices are 24 HKD (front seats) and 32 HKD (back seats). Tickets are now available at the Hong Kong Space Museum Box Office and URBTIX.
The Hong Kong Space Museum is located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, and is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).

The only century-old water distribution reservoir remaining in Hong Kong.
Address: Bishop Hill, Shek Kip Mei
Average cost per person: Free
Itinerary: Reservation for guided tours can be made on the Water Supplies Department website
Recommended reason: Grade I historic building
Before 2021, the Sham Shui Po water distribution reservoir was confirmed as a Grade I historic building, and it is now open to the public on a limited basis. During the initial opening period, reservations were often full, and I finally managed to book a spot recently. The guided tours are government-funded and free of charge, with groups of about thirty to forty people led by several guides. Visitors climb over three hundred stone steps to reach the reservoir, which has a history of over a hundred years. The entire building was constructed before the war, featuring a grand Roman-style architecture with over a hundred granite columns, presenting a magnificent scene. The guides provide a very detailed explanation of the history, and the whole tour lasts about an hour. At the end, there is even a small gift given away, making it a very worthwhile visit.

Caught by these beautiful cakes and pastries
At the Basement of AIRSIDE, the huge mall in Kowloon, directly connected to Kaitak MTR station, definitely was attracted by rays of all these unbelievable amazingly colourful man made cakes and pastries.
They are not only good to look at, it tastes good too. As they are mainly popular and renown shops. It’s quite a strong competition and hard to choose one but several instead. One might find a seat in one of these shops with a good cup of coffee to go with.
Bon appétit 😋
