Persepolis Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Iran Trip
On April 26, 2023 at 11:00 Iran time, the "Expert-led Exploration of the Wonders of the Persian Empire in Iran" team arrived at their first stop, Persepolis, after a two-hour drive from Shiraz this morning. Yu Su introduced that this was the second capital of the Persian Achaemenid dynasty, located in a basin in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. It was built during the reign of Darius the Great (ruled from 522 BC to 486 BC), and its ruins were discovered near Takht-e Jamshid, 52 kilometers northeast of Shiraz. The city is situated to the east of a mountain and is surrounded by walls on the other three sides. The main remains include the audience hall of King Darius and the Hundred Column Palace.
The pink lake of Iran or mars?
Maharloo Lake is located in the highland of Shiraz, Iran. It is dark pink in colour due to the red tides underneath, hence lovingly called the Pink Lake.
It is a seasonal salt lake with the size approx 25000 hectres. Undoubtedly the most amazing and strangest sight I have ever seen and honestly ,it made me nervous.
We took a flight with Paramotor that made it possible for us to the the lake from high above.
Drive or hire a taxi to get there as it is not accessible to public transportation. Get the taxi to wait up whilst you do the touristy stuff and selfies. There is no other activity than taking pictures, walk on salt, paragliding, picnic and a little hike along the lake.
There were flamingos! A lot of them too.
I can't fully describe how i feel about this place, yes it was pretty, 100%..but it was also so very strange. Almost feel like you are in some sci-fi film.
It reminded me of Vormir (avengers, where the soul stone was (found). It is insanely beautiful and scary at the same time.
No restaurants of here just enjoy the beautiful lake, hold some salt and take lots of pictures! This is nature showing off.

Before visiting the Persian exhibition at the museum, let's learn about the Persian Empire, which predates the Qin dynasty
When it comes to the traces of the rise and fall of ancient Persian civilization, the first thing that comes to mind is undoubtedly Persepolis, a World Heritage Site located about 60 kilometers northeast of Shiraz in Iran. This was once the greatest capital in the history of ancient Persia, and its status is equivalent to that of the Great Wall in China.
Persepolis was once the most magnificent stone palace in the world, but in 330 BC, Alexander the Great conquered the Persian Empire, and now only ruins remain of Persepolis.
At the palace ruins of the Hundred-Column Hall, only stone column bases are left, a scene of desolation and loneliness; the audience hall once had 72 columns that were 20 meters high, and currently, 13 fairly intact Greek-style columns still stand tall. One can imagine how spectacular the audience hall, which could accommodate thousands of people, was. I have seen a restored VCR at the British Museum, and the Persian Empire at that time was indeed too powerful.
Persepolis has a very famous relief of various ethnic groups, depicting a procession of 28 nations under the rule of the Persian Empire bringing tributes, including the Parthians coming with camels, the Arians from the east, the Egyptians bringing textiles and huge cattle, the Armenians offering fine horses and amphorae, the Babylonians holding pottery and robes... Many of these civilizations have long since vanished, but they are clearly recorded on this stone wall.
The fall of Persepolis marked the end of the vast Persian Empire, but the various exquisite stone carvings unearthed from the ruins are still lifelike, making one marvel at the strength of the Persian Empire more than two thousand years ago and the wisdom of the ancient Persians.

Persepolis, beauty in ruins, beauty in awe.
Persepolis was the capital of the ancient Persian Empire, destroyed during Alexander the Great's eastern campaign. For thousands of years, the ruins have stood on the Iranian plateau.
Standing in front of this world cultural heritage site, it is inevitable to evoke a sense of nostalgia.

Persepolis, Iran's greatest monument, world cultural heritage, is the fifth capital city ordered to commemorate the kings of the Achaemenid kingdom after the reign of the Persian Empire Darius I. It is the ancient civilization of Central Asia. Unique proof. Later, Alexander attacked Persepolis, ransacked it, and put a big fire, the magnificent stone city became today's pile of debris.
72 The top of the top stone column still has 13 remaining, standing proudly on the wasteland, witnessing the glory of the ancient Persian empire, the sun sets, the wind of the wilderness is wrapped in the history, and it is dazzling.
