Nanwan Monkey island Eco-tourist Attraction Zone

Nanwan Monkey island Eco-tourist Attraction Zone is located on the Nanwan Peninsula in Lingshui, Hainan. It is a tropical island-type macaque nature reserve surrounded by the sea on three sides, consisting of two areas: Monkey Island Park and Daidai Island. Watching wild macaques here is a unique experience that distinguishes it from most coastal attractions in Hainan – over a thousand macaques inhabit the dense forests on the island, and visitors often encounter monkey families along the walking trails.

In Monkey Island Park, macaques chase and play among the greenery and branches, utterly unselfconscious. The monkey viewing pavilion, the highest point on the tour route, offers a panoramic view of the island's forest and surrounding sea. During hot weather, the "Sacred Bath Pool" becomes the macaques' water park, where you can see them swim, dive, and even go diving. Macaque acrobatics and humorous skits are regular long-running performances in the park, providing lighthearted entertainment.

There are two ways to get to the island: take the cross-sea sightseeing cableway to soar over the sea, or take a boat from the pier and transfer to a shuttle bus to go up the mountain. The over 2000 m cableway takes approx. 6 mins for a one-way trip. The cable car glides over the sea surface, offering a view of the clustered fishing rafts of the Tanka people in Xincun Port below—this "floating market" with its stilt houses and fishing boats forms a typical Tanka fishing port scene, which is a major highlight when taking the cable car to the island.

Daidai Island is located in the coastal area of the peninsula's southwest, adjacent to Qingshui Bay to the west and facing Wuzhizhou Island across the sea. The several-km-long beach and coconut groves are dotted with props like ancient boats, colorful beach chairs, canopy beds, and swings, making it a hotspot for photo ops. The giant reef "Divine turtle exploring the sea" divides the beach into two sections, and the black sand beach, a rare sight, can be seen on the side of South Bay.

The macaques on the island are not afraid of people. Please keep your food in your bag. Feeding and photo-taking must be done under staff guidance using the special food provided by the attraction. If you plan to experience the cable car, it is recommended to start early to avoid long queues.
