This was by far the worst HOTEL MYSTAYS I have stayed at, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tokyo.
My first room was in unacceptable condition — torn wallpaper, holes in the couch, and dirty stains all around the room. It felt unhygienic and poorly maintained. When I raised this and requested a room change, I was told at one point that the stains were because the building is old, which is not an acceptable explanation for visible dirt and damage in a guest room.
While the front desk staff did make a good effort and arranged for me to change rooms, the second room still had issues, including scratched and peeling paint in the bathtub, again showing very poor maintenance standards.
Because of the condition of the bathroom, I didn’t even dare to bathe properly and had to take very quick showers. The step up to the toilet was also annoying and inconvenient, adding to the discomfort.
On top of that, there were strange noises between 3am and 4am that kept me awake at night, and at random times there was a sewage smell, which was extremely unpleasant.
What makes this even worse is that housekeeping is a PAID service at this hotel. Charging extra for housekeeping is completely unacceptable, especially when the cleanliness and maintenance standards are already this poor. Laundry facilities are also inconvenient, with the washer and dryer separated. Housekeeping and maintenance really need to step up.
While I appreciate the efforts of the front desk staff, the overall condition of this hotel completely overshadowed any positives. I have stayed at other HOTEL MYSTAYS properties—including the nearby Kanda hotel in Tokyo, MYSTAYS Premier Kanazawa, and MYSTAYS Fukuoka hotels previously—all of which had far higher standards than this location.
Overall, a very disappointing stay and easily the worst MYSTAYS experience I’ve had. I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel until the room cleanliness standard improves.
