I stayed in a Bush Cabin—a truly special experience for nature lovers! The veranda offers a fantastic view over the valley. The property is situated on the sprawling grounds of a massive citrus farm, very close to the Main Gate of Addo Elephant National Park.

Hubby surprised me with a getaway to this little piece of earthly heaven. We travelled there on a very hot day, got there a little early and our bush cabin was quickly prepared for us to go relax in by the incredible staff. Reception looked like a little dung beetle ball, and we were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the area is. It is quiet, there are lots of birds & Springbokkies. There are two swimming pools and the bar/lodge area is open to use. It's very clean in all the areas we were in and we loved our little bush retreat. We followed the receptionist to our cabin and enjoyed the view from the stoep. The amenities were to the left outside of the of the cabin (shower, basin with soaps and night light, toilet next to that). There is a little kitchenette area on the stoep with two chairs and a table (kettle, cutlery, cups, coffee, tea, two plate to cook food, dishwashing items). Recommended for star gazing at night. It was beautiful! Cabin itself had a lovely big fan in it, place to hang clothes with hangers, mini fridge with milk in it, very comfy bed surrounded by a mosquito net, microwave, fluffy towels, sliding door with gate in front. Hubby stated that it was definitely worth the amount he paid. Breakfast was delicious the next morning and we will for sure be back! There is a little bit of a gravel road (2-3km) to travel to the farm. Thank you so much, Dung Beetle Guest farm and Addo.

The Dung Beetle Guest lodge is a sweet little place to stay. It has various different accommodation types so you can stay rustic in a bush cabin or more comfort in a chalet. We chose to stay in the Dung beetle cabin. It was great! A dome like accommodation meant to mimic the dung beetle it was fun. It was very close to Addo main gate so easy to go one various game drives. Lots of restaurants nearby but also a grocery store to buy your own food and a wonderful bbq or braai set up to cook your own food. This place was fun clean comfortable and great place to stay with great hosts! I loved it!

Unfortunately, we had a sleepless night in the chalets. As soon as it became dark, the noise in the roof (of what we later learned is a colony of bats) became unbearable with all the bats. This issue cannot just have appeared recently, so I wish we would have been told before we booked to rather go with another type of accommodation on the property and not the chalets that are even more expensive than the rest. We had a long drive ahead of us the following day, so not having slept was very unfortunate. Under these circumstances we wouldn’t come back.

What a beautiful place. We had such a warm welcome from Henry who waited for us in the cold because we checked in a little late. Rooms we neat and tidy, food at breakfast was amazing and those homemade muffins were to die for I could've eaten 10. Such a lovely sight sitting on the stoop looking out on the orange fields...

We chose the accommodation because of the wonderful photos and were looking forward to the luxury accommodation described. There was no luxury, the complex has not been renovated for a long time, everything made a somewhat run-down impression. Transparent plastic tablecloths instead of beautiful tablecloths and candles, a swimming pool far too small for swimming and a whirlpool right next to the restaurant's dining tables. Far too expensive for that. But the worst thing was the disappointment...

Great location close to the Addo Park, nice and well-appointed chalet, excellent service, but unfortunately the ceiling void of our room was infested with bats that prevented us from getting sleep for the two nights that we were there. We raised it with the staff who confirmed that it was a known issue, which raises serious questions.
