This trip to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park with my family was even more enriching than I expected, making it a perfect destination for family outings. The park is vast, offering not only a variety of marine animals but also exciting animal shows, themed enclosures, and rides. For a complete experience, I recommend allocating a full day. The most memorable experience was undoubtedly the orca show. Having only seen orcas on TV and in videos before, seeing them up close for the first time was truly breathtaking. The orcas were larger than I imagined, swam incredibly fast, and their leaps out of the water created a stunning visual spectacle. Especially when several orcas performed together, the atmosphere in the entire park was electrified. The front-row interactive area was splashed with water, and the audience's reactions were quite amusing. If it's your first time at Haichang, I think the orca show is definitely one of the must-see attractions. Besides the orcas, the dolphin and sea lion shows each have their own unique charm. The dolphin show emphasizes speed, leaps, and the coordination between humans and animals, with a more upbeat rhythm; the sea lion show, on the other hand, has a more comedic and interactive feel, which children especially enjoyed. The various performances have distinct styles, so even watching them consecutively throughout the day won't feel repetitive. The marine animal exhibits within the park are also worth exploring at a leisurely pace. Besides large marine animals, you can see various fish, jellyfish, penguins, and other polar and marine life. Some exhibits feature beautifully designed lighting and underwater displays, making them particularly suitable for introducing children to different animals. Compared to simply watching the performances, I felt these exhibits allowed for a slower pace and closer observation of the animals. In addition, the park also offers some rides and attractions, so it's not just a traditional "aquarium" but rather a combination of a marine zoo, aquarium, and theme park. After watching the main performances, you can incorporate rides and attractions to make your day more fulfilling. Overall, I was very satisfied with my trip to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. The park is large, and you'll walk a lot throughout the day. If you confirm the show times in advance and plan your route accordingly, it will be much easier. For families with children, it offers both entertainment and visual enjoyment. Seeing orcas up close for the first time was also very impressive for adults. Although the day was a bit tiring, the children had a great time and created many unforgettable memories, making it a very worthwhile family trip.
