Squire Tarbox Inn

Very poor experience. Having just arrived after a long plane trip and drive, I was eager for a warm welcome and perhaps an offer of lemonade but was met by a person who offered nothing … not even a smile. Things got worse so I left prior to spending the night. Thank goodness they offered to refund my payment.

This place, which charted $400 a night, with taxes, was a complete disappointment for the following reasons: (1) no one to greet you when you arrive; (2), no chest of drawers or shelves where to put your clothes; (3) insufficient hangers; (4) minuscule bathroom and little rounds of wrapped soap instead of high end toiletries; (5) cheap polyester sheets; (6) filthy bathroom floor; and (7) difficult to reach and 30 minutes from town location. The final blow was when we returned from dinner to find a leak in the ceiling of our room from the room above. The best the owners could offer was a room outside the main house. We declined, demanded a refund and left. There are far too many beautiful, charming, and comfortable B&Bs and hotels on the Maine coast to waste your money here.

We had a wonderful stay at The Squire Tarbox Inn and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The inn is beautiful, peaceful, and full of charm, making it the perfect place to relax while exploring the Maine coast. What truly made our stay special was Olga. She was incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind from the moment we arrived. She made us feel right at home and was a joy to talk with. She even prepared a delicious homemade breakfast that was the perfect way to start the day. If you’re looking for a cozy, authentic New England inn with exceptional hospitality, The Squire Tarbox Inn is a gem. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Second year here. What a beautiful, peaceful spot for a vacation with my best friend, my dog. We love the warm atmosphere, the staff is so nice, wonderful breakfasts, and a great spot from which to explore Westport island and the mainland. We love it!

Fabulous place! Incredible atmosphere..lovely room...and the hospitality was top notch! Adored all the history associated with it...impeccably clean! A true gem and we highly recommend it.

Located near scenic rivers, creeks and marshes, this inn is situated on laid-back Westport Island. It's close to charming towns such as Wiscasset and Damariscotta. That said, the inn seemed to offer little for its steep price. The buffet breakfast was tasty but very limited; definitely not a full breakfast. Samantha was quite friendly. The Mario Room was simple and comfortable, with a small, broken table for a nightstand, peeling paint and a cramped bathroom, but also pretty views of a meadow and pond. Relaxing, but not worth the price.

Excellent visit to Maine and the Squire Tarbox. New owners have made major design improvements and restored the property.
