The riverside cliff of Nine Horses Fresco Hill displays alternating yellow and white patterns, and legend says one can discern nine galloping horses from them. A folk rhyme goes, "Spot seven horses to place second in imperial exams, spot nine to become top scholar"—counting the horses often becomes a lively interactive activity on bamboo rafts.
