Wow, this place is amazing! The Seagull on the Bund is actually quite close to my home, so when I was picking a 'One City, One Room' hotel, I didn't want to choose one in Shanghai. I was hoping for a hotel somewhere else, but somehow, I ended up booking this one. Before checking in, I was really reluctant, thinking it would be better to just stay home, haha. But then I figured, 'why waste a good opportunity?' and decided to go anyway. And boy, am I glad I did – it was fantastic! I'd walked past the Seagull on the Bund countless times, but this was my first time actually stepping inside. The hotel is very new and incredibly well-maintained. The lobby has a glass conservatory where lots of people were taking photos, and the New Year's decorations were lovely. As soon as I entered, the staff were super enthusiastic. During check-in, they even gave me a ton of fruit and desserts, plus a bottle of red wine, haha. The mini-bar is mostly complimentary, except for two types of alcoholic beverages, and they also provided free potato chips, pistachios, and chocolates. The room isn't huge, but it has everything you need. My favorite part was the view from the balcony – to the left, I had a luxurious night view of the 'Four-Piece Suite' (Oriental Pearl Tower, etc.), and to the right, the historic Bund architecture. I got to see all the best parts of Shanghai's night skyline. The hotel's location is also super convenient; just cross Waibaidu Bridge and you're at the Bund Source, with lots of great restaurants and beautiful photo spots. Then there was the breakfast, which I was most looking forward to. It's a semi-buffet style, with plenty of à la carte options. The avocado toast and lobster rolls were both excellent, and they had many Shanghai local specialties like xiaolongbao and shepherd's purse wontons, plus a good selection at the buffet. After eating, I went back to my room to soak up the sun and enjoy the view – it was just perfect.
