Adegas do Pico

We spent 3 nights ar Casa da Vinha. It is a chrming old wine house that has been converted into a rental property. It has all the amenities you require. Great for 2 people. The management are lovely and supplied basket with bread, jam and tea Being a stone house it does get chilly but they supply a heater for the kitchen and there is some type of wood pellet burning stove in the bedroom upstairs. We did not use that. There is also an air conditioner in the bedroom. We had a lovely time there but I must advise the the house does have a musty smell I suspect that there is nothing that can be done about that. The views from the back yard are amazing

Uniqueness Very unique property. Great view. Loved the layout of property. For additional cost provided breakfast basket each day. Town has a well stocked grocery store nearby. Very picturesque village with a wonderful wine bar.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend that anyone stay here. We had a number of issues: 1. Cleanliness - there were centipedes everywhere, including in our bed during the night which was very unsettling. We complained and basically nothing was done about this, other than putting a useless glue trap down. The house had clearly not been cleaned properly and had cobwebs / dead insects scattered around the place. 2. The toilet was leaking. Again, we complained, and they sent someone to "fix" the issue, however this was never remedied - all that happened was that a dirty towel was left behind in the bathroom (they didn't even dry the floor) 3. The AC didn't work The host was very responsive and friendly, but really didn't take any responsibility for these issues, and we ended up moving to another hotel. Very disappointing - avoid.

My family and I stayed at Adegas do Porto for two nights this August, and were excited about the chance to stay at such a charming, authentic home in the heart of Pico. The house had the basics and necessities needed for our stay, and the staff were readily available by phone or email. A welcome basket of local bread, jam, coffee and tea was prepared and set out on the table for our arrival. This, however, was the extent of the positive experiences we had at Adegas do Porto. Soon after arriving, we began to notice bugs covering the walls of the bedrooms downstairs. One room, had over 10 spiders on the ceiling, and the other had multiple house centipedes running across the walls, into the floor, and even onto the bed. We also noticed that the en-suite bathroom toilet appeared to be leaking. When wiping up some of the water, we were shocked to find a lizard in the trash bin. The lizards were also in the walls of the kitchen, and a bat flew into the outside stone of the house while we were on the patio. The final issue before reaching out to the host was the fact that none of the outlets in the bedrooms were working... An email was sent to inform the host of these issues, to which the response was: "Thank you so much for your email and information! It was a pleasure to welcome you and we look forward to your next visit 😊 Have a nice evening." We do understand that this is an authentic lava home within the wild nature of the Azores, however, did not appreciate the toilet paper stuffed between the bottom edges of the wall and the floorboards, signaling that the host was well-aware of the issue prior to us reaching out. Suffice it to say, we did not sleep well during the two nights we spent here.

Poetry in Paradise Amazing house in paradise, the entire accommodation was super comfortable and with all necessary equipment to make you feel at home , the kitchen is fully equipped and even has washing machine if you need to wask some clothing,everything is in full conditions Simple but with love this house will not disappoint you. The views from the living room and from the lovely balcony are a must. And the team ,specially the receptionist ,went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible ! Thank you !

We stayed at Flor do Ribeira for 5 nights. The cottage was relatively small but was clean, comfortable, quaint and charming and came with all the basics we needed - including a welcome breakfast basket of local bread, jam, coffee and tea. Staff were readily available by phone or WhatsApp to deal with any requests. If you’re looking for a tranquil base for your time on Pico, this is perfect - we loved sitting out on the deck admiring the views across the sea to Sao Jorge. Recommend that visitors stop off at the Hipercais supermarket just outside Sao Roque en route to stock up on supplies. There is a small store 5 minutes drive from the Adega to pick up basics. There is a pizzeria and bakery within walking distance but for good food, we recommend Tasca and Adega Acoriana in the village.
