👎🏻 We were really looking forward to staying at O2 Villas in Ella. We booked a two-level family apartment (approx. 70 m²) for two nights for three adults and our 5-year-old grandson, paying €960. The price was high, but it reflected the standard presented in the photos and description, and we expected a special experience. One week before arrival, we were informed about an unspecified technical issue and told that the apartment would not be available. We were offered either cancellation or alternative accommodation. I repeatedly asked for details to ensure a comparable standard, but no specific information was provided. We were simply assured that we would be satisfied. Upon arrival, we were told the apartments were still not operational and were given a small ground-floor room (approx. 15 m²) next to the reception in a neighboring hotel — a room normally offered for a fraction of the price we had paid. We received a complimentary dinner as compensation. After the first night, we requested at least a partial refund, as the provided accommodation clearly did not match the standard we had paid for, but this was refused. We were then moved to two larger rooms in another nearby hotel that was under renovation and without functioning internet. What disappointed us most is that we paid for a high standard that was never delivered, and the hotel was unwilling to offer fair financial compensation. Overall, a very disappointing experience that unfortunately affected our stay in Sri Lanka.
