Unfortunately, our stay in this hotel was extremely disappointing and far from what we expected, especially considering the price we paid. We stayed for three nights, and every day there was a new problem. For the first time, I was actually looking forward to checking out of a hotel.
The biggest issue was the construction taking place directly next to the hotel. We were woken up every morning, including Saturday, at around 8 a.m. by extremely loud drilling and construction noise. It was impossible to sleep, rest, or relax in the room. The hotel did not inform us about the construction in advance, which I find completely unacceptable. When we complained to reception, we were simply told that it was “out of their control.” However, this does not change the fact that guests are paying for a hotel room where they should be able to sleep peacefully.
The construction also made the surroundings dusty and unpleasant. The noise was incredibly loud, and at times it genuinely felt as if the workers were drilling directly inside our room. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the beautiful canal view, but instead of enjoying the view, we were looking directly at construction workers and construction equipment outside our window.
The room itself was very small and uncomfortable, with a low ceiling that made it easy to hit your head. It also was not properly clean — there were cobwebs in the room. Some basic amenities were missing as well. For example, slippers were initially not provided, and when we called reception, we were told they were “out of stock.” Only after we complained did they somehow manage to find them.
The smell throughout the hotel was also very unpleasant and strange. It smelled strongly of food, garbage, or something similar, and it seemed that the ventilation system was not functioning properly, possibly because of the restaurant.
The reception service was another major disappointment. Some members of staff, particularly Maritza and another brunette woman, were extremely rude and unhelpful. Instead of trying to find solutions, they repeatedly told us that everything was “out of their control.” When we expressed our dissatisfaction, we were even told that we should have stayed for only one night, which makes absolutely no sense considering that our stay had already been prepaid.
Transportation was also inconvenient because the hotel is located in an area where cars cannot easily access the entrance. With large suitcases, reaching a taxi was difficult. On the day of departure, we asked reception for assistance because we were rushing to the airport, but instead of helping us, they were dismissive and once again said that it was “out of their control,” despite the hotel information stating that reception could assist with transportation.
Overall, we spent all three nights dealing with noise, construction, dust, unpleasant smells, poor service, and various inconveniences. This is absolutely not the experience I would expect from a hotel at this price.
I would not recommend this hotel and definitely do not think it is worth the money. The rooms directly affected by the construction should not be offered to guests until the construction is completed.
