Baan Taranya Koh Yao Yai Resort

The bungalow is lovely, all wooden, perfect for those who appreciate that style of accommodation. The furniture is a bit worn, but everything works well. I didn't use the bathroom, but I noticed there were some stains, which didn't inspire confidence. But then again, it's all individual preference. Overall it was good, the only thing is that my bungalow was right next to the hotel's pool/restaurant, and when I lay down to rest, I could hear music. It wasn't loud, but I prefer complete silence to fall asleep, so I used earplugs.

The hotel is quite remote, far from any civilization. The staff seemed half-asleep, and it felt like we were the only guests there. Despite that, they gave us a room with a terrible smell and a non-functional electronic key. Breakfast was meager, probably due to the lack of customers.

This hotel is located on a side street off the main road. We particularly enjoyed the friendly welcome. We had a standard room, which was very clean, had a safe, and fresh towels were provided daily if desired. It was a good size, and we were lucky enough to get a corner room, which meant we had an extra window and a small private terrace. The hotel is right on the beach, but also has two pools. Additionally, the hotel offers a free shuttle service to what is supposedly one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The hotel restaurant offers a very extensive breakfast buffet; the only downside is that the coffee machine takes a while. The food selection at the restaurant is also excellent. For those who are very sensitive to noise: since there's a pier directly on the hotel beach, it's often used by scooter riders to zoom around – it's actually quite fun to try yourself! :) I generally recommend always having earplugs for Thailand (also for speedboats) – we were able to sleep perfectly well.
