Outstanding

Songshan Scenic Area covers an area of 159 square kilometers. Originating 3.6 billion years ago, Songshan is an eastern extension of the Qinling Mountains and is known as the "Central Peak" of the Five Sacred Mountains, earning it the ancient reputation of being the "Center of Heaven and Earth." Geography and Geology: The main body consists of Taishi Mountain (its main peak, Junji Peak, is 1491.7 meters above sea level) and Shaoshi Mountain (its highest peak, Liantian Peak, is 1512 meters above sea level). Even more remarkably, within an area of 400 square kilometers, it completely exposes strata from five geological periods, from the Archean to the Cenozoic, a phenomenon known as "Five Generations Under One Roof." I chose to take the cable car up and down the mountain. The Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake famously remarked, "One who has not visited Sanhuangzhai has not truly experienced Shaolin." The suspended walkways and the Book Cliff here are truly spectacular.
