Light House Old City

Really great hotel with an excellent location. My room was huge, with its own terrace overlooking the mountains and a church. There's a Spar supermarket, cafes, and restaurants nearby, and it's just a 9-minute walk to the center. The people at reception were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. I recommend it!

I stayed for several days. It's within walking distance to the metro station, and Holy Trinity Cathedral is just 100 meters away. They offer free breakfast. There are supermarkets and a farmers market nearby, which is very convenient. The bus from Tbilisi to Yerevan also departs from nearby.

Overall, I liked the hotel; the location is convenient. We were checked into a room on the 3rd floor with mountain views, which was very beautiful. I loved spending time on the balcony on rainy days or after long walks. The room is spacious, with large windows. Towels were changed daily, and water was provided. Regarding cleanliness, there are definitely issues: dirty windows, dust, a rusty soap holder, and the floors weren't mopped, only once out of the six days we stayed there, and the sheets were changed on that same day. But overall, it wasn't critical for me. It's comfortable and cozy. As someone who enjoys a cozy sit-down on a balcony, I would have liked a kettle in the room, but they don't provide one. However, you can get free tea and coffee in the dining area anytime. Avlabari metro station is 10 minutes away, and the Cathedral is literally visible from the window.

The location is excellent. The hotel is cozy, and the breakfasts aren't bad. The only downside is that it's old and hasn't been renovated in a long time. Everything is falling apart, the plumbing leaks and smells, and the rooms are smoky and dirty.

I genuinely don't understand how this hotel got a 9.1/10 rating – it's completely unrealistic. The photos on the website have absolutely nothing to do with what you actually get. Upon arrival, we were given a room on the third floor with no elevator, which immediately raised questions about their organization. After we requested, they moved us to the first floor (room 3), but it was impossible to sleep there: the windows and balcony door didn't close properly, so the noise from the road was constant. The next day, we had to go back to the reception. The employee (a guy with glasses) was utterly indifferent and only started reacting when we raised our voices. He first claimed he couldn't do anything, then said we needed to call management. After that, he gave us another room on the third floor and said there were no free rooms, even though the hotel was practically empty. This just screamed incompetence and unwillingness to work. Only after a persistent argument did they finally give us a decent room with elevator access. The hotel's condition is a whole other issue. It feels like no renovations have been done in years: the taps in the bathroom are barely holding on, and there's mold everywhere. Don't even get me started on hygiene. There's no privacy either: staff enter the room daily without warning to “clean,” but they don't even change the bedding. Breakfasts were another letdown. If you came after 10 AM, there was practically nothing left to eat. The selection was meager and always the same – eggs, rice, buckwheat. No variety or basic care for guests whatsoever. This hotel is a complete disappointment and an example of how service should *not* operate. The owners need to make changes immediately, but as a guest, I absolutely do not recommend this place.
