Hiroshi Sugimoto: Form Is Emptiness
Gallery 1 and The Engine Room
Date:29 May 2026 – 11 Oct 2026
This landmark exhibition marks the Southeast Asian debut of world-renowned artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. Featuring 63 works across 11 series and 14 fossils from his personal collection, the showcase traces five decades of conceptual exploration. Titled after the iconic line from the Heart Sutra, "Form Is Emptiness" explores the profound interdependence between appearance and reality. The Sugimoto-designed layout, inspired by a mandala, eschews linear paths for an immersive spatial experience, inviting visitors to reconsider the act of seeing and the malleability of time.
*A separate ticket is required for admission to this exhibition.

SAMCollection: The Present is Unstable
Date: 2 Oct 2026 - 18 Jul 2027
Venue: Level 3, Gallery 4, SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark
SAMCollection: The Present Is Unstable considers the exhibition as something fluid and constantly changing. Works from the Collection will be brought in and out over time, placed in new relationships, and activated through talks, tours, and public programmes. There is no single theme here. Each time works is taken out of storage and put on display, they tell a different story and each configuration tests a different question. They may reveal concerns that were not visible before and connect older questions to present-day struggles, helping us understand what kind of world we are living in now. In whichever configuration you encounter the Collection, it asks that we begin with one question: what is the work trying to say, and how might it matter today?
*General Admission (Free for Singaporeans and PRs)
