Shila Athens

If you love prime locations and historic character, Shila has both in spades. Unfortunately, when they committed to the "old-world" theme, they took it a bit too literally with the room functionality and AC. It was 95 degrees outside and a sweltering 85 inside our room. Sleeping was near impossible unless you enjoy marinating in your own sweat. To their credit, the staff tried to soften the blow by providing a desk fan and a 25% discount voucher for our next booking—a bold marketing strategy for guests who are actively melting. We loved our time exploring Athens, but our stay here left us thoroughly overheated and under-rested. Definitely cannot recommend.

From the moment we walked through the door, we were made to feel genuinely welcome and completely at home. The staff is knowledgeable, warm, friendly, and incredibly accommodating without ever feeling formal or intrusive. The hotel itself is extraordinary. The decor is a beautiful mix of old-world elegance, modern art, romance, and just enough eccentricity to make it unforgettable. Every room and corner feels thoughtfully curated, but never staged. It is warm, intimate, stylish, and full of personality. The little details made the experience feel especially special — the handwritten welcome note, the sparkling wine, the beautiful breakfast, the lighting, the art, and the sense that every choice had been made with care. And romantic? Absolutely. Shila has that rare kind of atmosphere that makes you want to slow down, pour a glass of wine, linger in the room, and forget whatever plans you thought you had for the evening. We loved every minute there. It was relaxing, inspiring, a little decadent, and completely unlike anywhere else I’ve been. I would return in a heartbeat and honestly had a hard time leaving. Shila wasn’t just our hotel in Athens. It became one of my favorite parts of the trip.

We recently sent a client to Shila, and her only complaint was that she didn't get to stay longer. Staying there is an experience in its own right, as much a part of the trip as Athens itself. You can see the thought behind every detail, and it's clear whoever designed it has a deep love for art, yet it all feels effortless and understated. It's the kind of apartment we'd want to design for ourselves, and one of the city's best-kept secrets. We have only the best things to say about working with the team, on both our end and our client's. Their hospitality was exceptional. Communication was simple and easy, everyone was personal and warm, and they made sure our client was taken care of in every sense, from a welcome gift to last-minute reservations. We're looking forward to working with them again soon.

What an amazing boutique hotel! The atmosphere and ambiance are unique. Each element of the decor has been thought through carefully making the spaces and rooms beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable, the towels were plush, the breakfast was generous and delicious. The staff were lovely, kind, helpful and flexible. They provided great recommendations. We had an exceptional stay and highly recommend Shila!

I arrived in Athens after a very busy few weeks of travel for work. I found the boutique property so peaceful and restorative that I barely wanted to leave. I appreciate their commitment to peacefulness and 'silence' which is very hard to find in a loud and crowded world. The bedding is divine, the beds are extremely comfortable. I recommend one of the suites on the higher floors. Breakfast on the roof is unique and lovely. The staff are all welcoming, gracious, and peaceful individuals. The design details are memorable-- I would travel back to Athens just to stay at Shila again. I have had the great fortune of staying at many beautiful hotels in Europe; Shila left a mark on me and I shall return.

An authentically posh and tasteful small hotel in a very chic area of Athens. We wish we could have stayed longer. The staff is warm and wonderful. The little details make it unique and cozy. Shila was a great stay our last evening in Athens.

I could not recommend this thoughtful sanctuary of a stay more. The staff, the attention to detail, the roof top terrace, the design, bedding, breakfast, curated room, down to its smell and even its toilet chain. This place was created with the purest intent and you feel it in every detail. Our most treasured travel stay to date. On a very quiet street meaning a silent sleep and a quick 20–30 minute walk from all good things.
