The Pirate Haus Inn

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My granddaughter had to sign up for pancakes every morning and was always so excited to see what her pancakes look like. The staff was amazing.

This place was absolutely adorable, the right balance of delightfully tacky and well maintained.

This is an old property but very clean with interesting decor. Family would love the pirate themed rooms. Reasonable rates especially for the area. Staff was exceptional.

This was not what we were expecting when we booked this for this price point. The room was dirty, the property was dirty, the bathroom was dirty. I understand that it was a historic building but I’ve stayed in one’s before that were still cleaner. The woman at breakfast was amazing but the food was basic pancakes and there is no guarantee that you’ll see any of the same people working the next visit since they use World Packers volunteers that don’t stay for long. For parking you either pay 15 dollars to park at a parking lot behind the location or you park for free at the main parking garage and need to walk back. It’s only a ten minute walk but not everyone can make it easily. You’re really paying for location but I would rather walk more and park on site in a cleaner room/property then stay here again.

The Pirate Haus is an old hostel and has the same vibe. Be aware that it is on the second floor of a building and the stairs are substantial. It is right in the heart of the old town and a great starting point for exploring on foot. The place is quite old with lots creaking floors etc. There is a hostel style kitchen and a common lounge. No TVs in the rooms. It was clean and the staff/owner was very welcoming. Not everyones cup of tea but we have stayed in a lot of hostels over the years and quite liked this one. Make sure to arrange for parking behind the building as it can be difficult otherwise.
