Royal Malioboro by Aston

This hotel is my top recommendation for anyone visiting Yogyakarta! Booking in advance got us a great discount. The location is excellent, right across from the train station, and it's a short walk to the bustling Malioboro Street. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the air conditioning was super cold. The front desk staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. The water dispensers in the hallway, offering both hot and cold water, all worked perfectly – a big plus! We stayed for several days and honestly didn't want to switch hotels, worried we might end up somewhere bad. As for the downsides, the soundproofing isn't the best. You can clearly hear the mosque's broadcasts starting early in the morning. However, this is quite typical in Indonesia, and personally, I'm fine with it. But if you're someone who gets bothered by early morning disturbances, then it might be an issue. Also, in some rooms, the shower door doesn't close completely, so water can spray out. These are minor drawbacks though, and for this price, there's really nothing to complain about. It's much better than many hotels I've stayed in Taiwan!

Great service, clean and spacious rooms, and delicious food. The swimming pool is also very nice. Next time I'm in Jogja, I'll definitely stay here again. It's easy to get around and close to Tugu Station.

The staff service was friendly 9/10. The facilities were complete and clean 9/10, there was even a well-equipped gym. The room cleanliness was good, and all amenities worked well. The only thing that needs improvement is the taste of the breakfast food. The variety was good, with lots of options, but the taste was lacking.

Before booking, I called the hotel to confirm the availability of a twin bed room, and I was assured I would get one. The next day, upon check-in, I was informed that there were no twin beds available and wasn't given any other option besides booking another room.
