Roman Theatre of Arles

The Arles Roman Theatre is a Roman-style open-air amphitheatre built in the late 1st century AD and now has only a few pillars and a few ruins. After the Roman reign, the opera house was abandoned, and the people collected the stone materials of the opera house, built houses and monasteries, causing it to suffer serious damage. Today, the ancient Roman opera house only has staircases and some stone pillars, and now two marble pillars in the center of the stage. The staircase seats were reduced from 10,000 to 2,000 for the remaining two original Roman opera houses. The 19th century government restored the excavated pillars and stone piers. All the debris found at the time was left behind, and it is now repaired. At that time, the opera house was a rectangle with walls on three sides, more than 70 columns, and a ceiling on it, which was tilted downward to ensure the pick-up.
