I want to take a walk slowly

    Original Text

This is a tunnel located about 200m on the cycling road from Kamii Kotan Station toward Fukagawa (looking at the steam locomotive on the left). The tunnel was cool and the suspension bridge on the opposite bank looked very beautiful.

It's been closed for a long time now.

    Original Text

This tunnel group is on the way to the cycling road of the former Hakodate Main Line track. However, since the traffic was closed due to the disaster around 2010, the traffic has been closed for a long time, and I visited again in September 2018, but it was still closed. I once passed through here by cycling in 2009, but the scenery and natural scenery of the tunnels were wonderful and maintained as a very beautiful cycling road, so ...

It is a little walk from the site of the former Kamii Kotan station.

    Original Text

It is a tunnel that was difficult to construct, and it was completed by the engineers of Lake Biwa Canal. If you look closely, you can feel the history with the same brick pile as Lake Biwa Canal. It was nice to be able to take a walk in the woods.

Crossing the edge of Kamii Kotan

    Original Text

Kamii Kotan is the edge at the choshiguchi where the Ishikari River exits from the Asahikawa Basin. It is a group of railway tunnels during the JNR era that ran beside it. It was one of the three major scenic spots in Hokkaido on the JNR. I think the autumn leaves and fresh green are beautiful. To get here, you can cross Kamii Kotan by bridge, but when the snow melts, the amount of water is large and powerful.

    Good for a walk.

    Original Text

It is said that the Ishikari River flows from the Asahikawa Basin to Fukagawa, and it is a railway tunnel during the Jnr era along the large abyss "Kamii Kotan". (← Received by your partner) You can walk from the former Kamii Kotan Station station building. The mountains are approaching on both sides, and the Ishikari River, which is narrowed into rocks, is heavy swirling underneath. Is it good for a walk in the fresh green in early summer?
