View and Photograph the Milky Way
I visited Ironwood Forest National Monument, Tucson, AZ in August 2022 to view and photograph the Milky Way. Light pollution there is low and Ragged Top Mountain made a nice foreground for the photo.
Scenic but treacherous
Don’t try the dirt roads without a high clearance vehicle !! We managed 4 mph once we left the pavement and it was white knuckles all the way. Didn’t see as much scenery as we might have liked because...

We took Avra Valley Road to the park, maintained (or not, as the case may be) by the Bureau of Land Mgt. Poorly signed throughout, it did warn us about the 12 miles of unpaved road, but not that you ...
