Interesting XIXth century house of wealthy family
This house had over 30 rooms and a good number are part of the visit. Of particular interest are the kitchen, some of the furnishings and a room displaying the dowry of a young bride.
It is a large merchant house with many rooms. At that time, many guests would have come, there were many exhibits rooted in life, such as a large kitchen and many tableware, and I could stay for hours.
It is located in the middle of the Omori district. I couldn't go inside because it was just 17:00, but it was a large mansion with white walls that reminiscent of the Edo period.
Japanese Hugger family ⁈ wealthy merchant residence
Original Text
It is a mansion of wealthy merchants who were widely traded in the financial, mining, and sake brewing industry (important cultural property). It seems that it was the accommodation when an official of the shogunate came from Edo, and the hall with thick carpets is worth a visit. Also noteworthy is the basement. Until the prewar period, even its existence was kept secret. How many silver lumps were hidden in a large stone chamber? I was excited just by thinking about it. At Matsue History Museum, these stones are in the Karo residence of Matsue domain ...
You can visit the houses of influential merchants in the past. The inside was large and there were many places to see. It was fun because the person in charge explained it. I think there is a rice cooking experience in the kamado, so I wanted to go again.
