We have seen many houses and gardens in Japan, and one of the most impressive areas for eight people and nine feet. The house is not only historic but beautiful. The staff is helpful (can speak some English) and proud to work here. The gardens are really striking, with ponds, small buildings, fountains and a great walking area. It’s March and there are lots of trees and flowers in full bloom, but most of the year must be beautiful. There are lots of English signage and helpful to the young, welcoming staff. The shop is fun, with local traditional desserts and fine crafts. We didn’t like cutting glass very much, but the output here was excellent. Expensive and nice. We spent3-4 hours wandering around and having lunch in the cafe - it was pretty good too. Watch out for someone ordering tea in the desert - the making of tea is an interesting exhibition.
