Had no idea of this small but significant part of Tauranga/ New Zealand history. Well worth a visit along with the rose gardens next door.

Easy to walk from downtown

From the end of the waterfront you can walk up the stairs and come out right next to the Police Station and the Pa site. Carry on a bit more to the winter gardens and rose park.

Rose Gardens

Hubby & I had a look round the Rose Gardens and checked out the harbour view from here. Gardens well maintained at this time of the year (cold day in June) and had a great view of the Owl town mural!...

Interesting

For history buffs like me you’ll enjoy this spot. All it needs is improved signage to tell the richer story complete with imagery.
