Iwaya Castle Ruins- Site of epic views and an epic battle too!
Some of the best views of Dazaifu and Southern Fukuoka city. On a good day you can see the mountains behind Kurume 40kms south. Historic site near to Kyushu’s most historic temple complex- Dazaifu Ten...
It is an old battlefield at the end of the 16th century AD. The other day, I experienced it for the first time as a set with the ruins of Ono Castle. From the tourist information board along the forest road (with explanation of the remains of Iwaya Castle Honmaru) to the promenade. Arriving at a fairly steep staircase by Yokkora Sho Yokkora Sho is an unexpected flat ground (about 300m above sea level). Blessed with good weather, I enjoyed a wonderful view (especially a bird's-eye view of the ruins of the Tokyo Tower). This is a must-see castle ruin for Takahashi Shoun Freak (including the stone monument "Nooko Sogetsu Iwaya Castle Ruins").
A must-see place with a panoramic view of the city of Dazaifu

If you are interested in history, this is the last place to visit as Shoun Takahashi. Even if not, it is easy to climb on a low mountain and you can overlook the cityscape of Dazaifu, making it a perfect place to climb on a hike. There is also a desk as a space for eating, so you can relax. There is no toilet, so it is recommended to finish at the foot of the mountain.
The surroundings of this castle ruins don't seem to be so large, so I thought it was built at the time of the castle construction, including the current ruins of Ono Castle. However, I couldn't find an explanation of it. When I visited, the tree 々 was disturbed and the view was not as expected.
You can climb from Dazaifu Government Office in about 40. It can be widely seen in Dazaifu, Chikushino, and Fukuoka. He is known for the offensive and defensive of the Shimazu army and the Otomo army during the Sengoku period. The army of Shoun Takahashi of the Otomo army was annihilated, but only one person escaped to the temple of Dazaifu to convey the fact.
