Chasing a snowfall in the north, the Christmas market in Salzburg in winter
In early December, I encountered a heavy snowfall that only happens once every sixty years, and the surrounding areas of Germany and Austria have all become a "winter wonderland". The streets and alleys are covered in silver, and I thought I had arrived in Northern Europe! Coupled with the arrival of the annual winter festival Christmas market, everything in front of me is even more dreamy.
Without exaggeration, going to the Christmas market is carved into the genes of every Salzburg resident.
Originating from the flea market in 1491, it gradually developed into a Christmas goods trading point, and now it is a bustling Christmas market. In the past 500 years, the culture of the Christmas market has been integrated into the lives of the residents of Salzburg.
To do list☑️
1️⃣, Sweet punch, Christmas cookies and German hot red wine are the classic Christmas trio. Drink hot red wine and chat with family and friends, taste local delicacies, such as roasted chestnuts, gingerbread, etc. are highly recommended.
2️⃣, The Christmas decorations in the market are particularly exquisite, most of them are handmade by craftsmen. Glass crystal balls, candles, illustrations, wooden toys, various ornaments, can all be taken home!
3️⃣, There are occasional activities and performances in the market, and what I recommend more is to listen to a Christmas concert in the fortress on the top of the mountain.
4️⃣, On December 6, the Alpine monster Krampus who guards Saint Nicholas will also appear nearby, wearing a long fur coat and a scary mask, we were scared out of our wits! You can also feel it!
High up over Salzburg you get an amazing view over the city and the snowcapped mountains on the other side. The panoramic tower you get an amazing 360 view. Unfortunately I was walking around inside when the weather was clear, and when I finished the fortress inside, which was very interesting btw, it started to snow heavily and we couldn't see very far on the tower. Also the ticket only allows you to go into each attraction once so make sure you go up the tower when the weather is good.
Salzburg, Austria, is the birthplace of the music god Mozart, and the commanding height of the city is the castle fortress. The entire castle fortress is quite large, including a museum, with a viewing platform, a wide view, overlooking the city!
Salzburg, Austria's second largest city, is a historic city, of which Salzburg Fortress is an important tourist attraction, we visit here, I own the highest point of the fortress, overlooking the city panoramic view.
Landmarks of Salzburg city, you can see it as soon as you enter the city.
A huge and majestic fortress at the top of Salzburg city. Built in the 11th century and stood strong to date. Imagine living in this castle like fortress as your home!
