Right off of the road. Very accessible. Get there early for sunrise. You will need a DSLR or Mirrorless Camera, as well as a tripod. Beautiful photos are to be had quite easily.
This is a must visit inside mount rainier national park . This is on the wAy from to the rainier peak . Generally you can do it on the way back once u finish visiting the peak… tough to get a perfect...
Visit the lake on a sunny, clear, and windless day and you hit the jackpoint ... hit the lake on a hazy, smoky, somewhat cloudy, and breezy day - not the best. But worth the stop ... parking is alon...
