South of the Old Town of Krakow, Poland, the Polish Mother River flows from the west. It is the place where several generations of Polish emperors lived and guarded. Those royal palace churches are now used as museum exhibition halls for tourists to visit.
Wawel Mountain stands quietly by the Vistula River, and the scene before me is not only a visual feast, but also a spiritual pleasure. Wawel Castle is located in the south of Krakow and is the highest point in the city. Standing on the top, it overlooks the ancient city of Krakow and is spectacular.
The castle is also the oldest palace in Poland and one of the symbols of Poland. Before moving the capital to Warsaw, Wawel Castle served as the residence of the Polish royal family for nearly three hundred years.
The castle is colorful and romantic from the outside. Suitable for taking a look with your lover.
It has been the residence of the king since the 10th century, and many coronation ceremonies have been completed here. The coffin of the former Polish president Kaczynski and his wife, who died in a plane crash in 2010, is placed in the castle’s underground church and is the only coffin that can be photographed.

Wawel Castle is a fortified complex of buildings erected for centuries on the limestone outcrop on the left bank of the Vistula River in Krakow, Poland. The building complex consists of many buildings and fortifications. The largest and most famous are the Royal Castle and Wawel Cathedral. Some of the oldest stone buildings in Wawel, such as the Rotunda of the Virgin Mary, date back to 970AD.
Wawel is of great significance to the Polish people: it became the center of political power for the first time after the first millennium AD, and became the main fortress of the Vistula tribe in the 9th century. The first historical ruler of the Piast Dynasty, Poland Misko I (c.965–992) and his successors: the brave Boleslaw I and Misko II (1025–1034) choice Wawel was used as their residence. At the same time, Wawel became one of Poland's main Christian centers. Early Romanesque buildings were built there, including a stone cathedral, which served the bishop of Krakow in 1000. From the reign of Casimir (1034-1058), Wawel became Poland's main political and administrative center. Wawel Cathedral was not only the place where Polish kings were crowned, but also their mausoleum. Later, it became the pantheon of the country.
Large scale, exquisite, and excellent location. There is a moat around it. The attractions are concentrated and there are no big tickets. However, the distribution of various small tickets is a bit more complicated. The palace needs to be reserved. Buying tickets has become a technical activity. It must be admitted that the attractions are cost-effective.
Wawel Castle is Poland’s old royal palace and a historical and cultural site in Poland. It is similar to the historical position of the Forbidden City in Beijing. It is full of old buildings. The former Polish emperors lived here. It’s also good to experience Poland’s history here. .
