On July 28, 2026, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will operate a special steam locomotive journey from Bangkok to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya to celebrate the King's birthday. Ticket booking for this event opens nationwide on June 28, 2026. The train will feature the historic Pacific steam locomotives No. 824 and 850, which are well-preserved post-World War II models maintained at the Thonburi Locomotive Depot. The journey departs from Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) at 8:10 AM and arrives at Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Station at 10:20 AM. The return trip leaves Ayutthaya at 4:50 PM and arrives back in Bangkok at 6:55 PM. The train will also stop at Bang Sue Junction and Rangsit stations, allowing passengers to board or disembark at these points.
