This is a transparent and factual review regarding our experience of staying at a STANDARD STUDIO at the Sunrise Village 9th June 2023 This holiday was booked through the OLYMPIC HOLIDAYS website. There is a 20-picture sequence comprised of 5 images general hotel, 13 images of renovated rooms and finally just 2 basic wide angled pictures of a non-renovated room. There is NO written comment on the website stating which rooms have or have not been renovated. We had unwittingly booked a STANDARD STUDIO - INLAND VIEW anticipating it to be a renovated room: our room 204 was NOT a renovated room. OLYMPIC are contracted with the hotel to supply both renovated and non-renovated rooms. The STANDARD rooms continue to be poorly maintained awaiting future renovation. The room is spacious, cool and is cleaned every day but has many issues which rendered it unacceptable considering the price paid to Olympic, namely: - • A very rusty freestanding refrigerator (the original redundant fitted fridge is behind a screwed-up door under the rusty two ring hob) • Corroded shower base trim with sharp exposed metal edges. • Old rusty radiators. • Old hard uncomfortable bed • Corroded bathroom fittings, chrome plating worn off tap, loose corroded soap holder and a failed sink plug that empties a full sink in 30seconds. • Trailing sockets and cables for fridge and high wattage items (Kettle/coffeemaker) • Rotting bathroom window which could not be closed • Old noisy air conditioning unit which has a very musty smell (Health Hazard) • Shower door that would not close properly creating a slip hazard floor around the sharp base edges. After emailing just a few pictures to OLYMPIC on 13 June 2023 we were contacted by reception who showed us a deluxe 1 bed Suite which was a renovated unit (room # 310). We were allowed to transfer to this room at no extra charge for the remaining 9 nights. The move, prompted by the Olympic Resort Manager, was an improvement and much appreciated, however it was not without its problems. The room was a “Ground floor” (Greek nomenclature) which is really a basement/cellar room (English translation) with: - 1. No Balcony or terrace (contrary to OLYMPIC Website accommodation description) 2. No view from the small studio window which was at ground level (No inland view or any view whatsoever) 3. Adjacent to a continually noisy operating compressor room and cleaners’ storage area. 4. Did not contain a “Fully Equipped kitchen” as described on the Olympic Website: it just provided a kettle, a toaster, and a sandwich maker. There were NO hobs, oven, or microwave to cook meals so eating out became mandatory. 5. The Studio contained NO chairs or table to sit at and eat a proper meal: outside a very small glass table and chairs was available upstairs by the car park PEDESTRIAN ENTRANCE 6. The hanging space comprised 2 hooks with rope loops holding a small rustic wooden pole to put hangers on. There were no other drawers, cupboards, or proper shelves to s

Having done a split holiday between Skiathos and Skopolos we’d stayed in a lovely 2 star studio for the first leg. Having been really excited to stay on Skopolos this was quickly extinguished when we got to our apartment. Clearly one half has been renovated and the other half is in need of modernising. The reality is my photos. Having paid an awful lot of money for our trip with Olympic it’s clear they get the rooms that are not great but you don’t know this. The bathroom was full of black mould, the toilet leaked, the balcony has nothing but a tiny beach umbrella that didn’t work for shade. We had a studio and an apartment both the same one at the back by the pool the other at the front overlooking the sea. The best bit, the view and the staff were really pleasant. Please pay attention to which type of room you may get as you’re likely to be very disappointed.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2023. When we pulled up, I was a bit apprehensive as there were no recent reviews and it looked like a pretty old bunch of buildings. Looks can be deceiving. We found the small parking lot easily and happy that it was decent enough size to turn our car(many in the islands aren’t) and had a hose to wash the dirt off the car to avoid excessive cleaning charge from the rental company. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had apartment 309 on the top floor overlooking the pool, but could see town and water over the top of the building. Our apartment had everything we needed, appeared recently renovated and was quite spacious. It had good blockout shutters which helped us sleep in a bit on early sunrises. It had a little fridge and enough plates and cutlery to Allow us to buy breakfast stuff from the supermarket and eat on the balcony in the mornings.Location was good, probably a 10 minute slow walk into town and all of the restaurants you could need. Some lovely little waterfront restaurants were a bit closer. The pool, whist appeared to have been built in the 60s or 70s was kept clean and good for an afternoon/early evening dip after returning from the beach. The pool wasn’t crowded and this is a fairly small hotel, but we could always find a deckchair. I wouldn’t want to spend a day by the pool like some of the leathery old sun seeking UK guests, as there are so many fantastic beaches on the Island, but it was fine for a quick dip and dry off. A couple of minor *******, such as hot water not being available early in the morning some mornings from the taps or shower, no beach towels ( we were travelling for 5 weeks trying to avoid excess baggage and everywhere else we’d been had beach towels). The reception was helpful and did offer us some old hotel towels if we wanted to use them by the pool, but we wanted to go to beaches so bought a couple. The shower head was a bit odd and probably blocked, so had an uneven spray. These are tiny ******* and didn’t detract from our stay.

My daughter and I stayed at Sunrise Village for her 22nd birthday treat. We loved it. The rooms had everything we needed-including great air con. They were clean and bedding was changed half way through our week and towels everyday. Great to have a full size fridge for our drinks and snacks. The shower was good. The official 2 stars must be because there’s no cafe/ restaurant etc as the rooms are much better than 2 stars. You can buy cold drinks from reception between about 8am to 8pm. The pool area is good and was very quiet for us even in August. Skopelos town is a short walk with first restaurants just 100m away. The hotel rooms were very quiet both day and night. Beach next to the hotel is not great but you can get to lovely beaches by bus easily and staying in Skopelos town with its lovely streets, shops, restaurants and harbour was better for us than just a beach resort. We loved Sunrise Village and Skopelos town and would highly recommend both.

Great place. Beds could do with being replaced in our apartment. Overall though it was worth it for the view. Staff great. Pool lovely. Location excellent. Daily cleaning of the rooms. A really lovely stay overall.

Definitely the worst room I've ever stayed in. If I could have given it no stars I would have. If you're unfortunate to book with Olympic you will probably get one of the old tatty rooms that have not been refurbished. Unfortunately our room 206 was one of these rooms. It was awful, tiny bathroom with disgusting mouldy shower, toilet that only flushed on 6th attempt, rotting window frame. The lounge/kitchen was a joke with a fridge in the middle of the room, kettle on top & an extension wire for fridge, kettle, coffee maker stretching to socket. Contrary to Trip Advisor it does NOT have free high speed WiFi, they wanted €8 for 4 days. Our room appeared to be above staff quarters with them chattering loudly continuously & cooking smells emanating day & night into the room. The pool area was poor with peeling paint, broken steps & the concrete searing area around the pool falling to pieces. After we complained they jokingly offered us the room next door which was just as bad or pay €40 extra per night for an upgrade. Olympic holidays website show mostly the lovely refurbished rooms, deceitful, as you expect to be accommodated in one of those rooms then find yourself in one of the awful old rooms. I was made aware the Olympic do not have access to the refurbished rooms therefore don't expect to get one.

Beautiful location! The staff was amazing, so warm and kind and accomodating to our needs. They kept the place immaculately clean. The. Space was so enjoyable the view perfect. We did a lot of our own cooking and the kitchen area was well stocked with what we needed to cook with. The mattresses cold use an updating but other than that everything was perfect. We will definitely book again when we return to slopelos
