The hanging church is built in ancient Cairo's Babylonian southwestern gate above Egypt's oldest Christian church, the church itself hanging in the aisle. It is a holy place for Egyptian Christianity because Mary, the Virgin Mary who was carrying Jesus, was here 1800 years ago and was later transferred to Jerusalem to give birth to Jesus. The church is small but beautiful, and has preserved many relics of the saints, but only here can be seen, because it cannot be photographed.
The oldest church in Egypt. Very important church, related to the history of Christian faith in Egypt. The original foundation is from the Babylonian era. There is a glass floor that allows you to see below the church floor. There are beautiful wooden windows and door frames. Beautiful stairs. Worth going in!

It is very special to prove the power of faith. 🔹 From the architectural style, although it is a Christian church, the whole is a strong Middle Eastern style, including the exquisite cross pattern. Think about it, many of the styles of the Alhambra are similar, and of course, this is also the word of the layman to see the lively family. The garden at the entrance has many beautiful murals depicting biblical stories. 📝 Travel tips: 🔺 Whether you have faith or not, respect the local culture, be careful in your words and deeds, and do not make noise during the visit.
Suspension Church was built in the 4th century. Its name is because it was built on the Babylonian fortress in ancient Rome. The Hall of the church is situated on the South Gate of the Babylonian castle, so it is called "Suspension Church". The church is located in the old Cairo area. Because of the political instability in Egypt, we can always see countless policemen maintaining it from getting off the bus to the scenic spots, so it is very safe to travel to Egypt. I didn't feel much about this scenic spot before, but after I went there, I found it was a very meaningful scenic spot. Hanging churches are Christian churches, which are very small and cannot be compared with many famous churches. But because I was the first time to come to the church, I was deeply moved by the simplicity of the church and the strong atmosphere of faith. This church is usually ignored by tourists, so there are few Chinese faces, let alone teams. But the local people in the church, devout prayers, very touched me. The church is a little broken, but the atmosphere is quite good, and the attraction is free.
Hanging Church, located in the old district of Cairo, is said to be supported by a wall. The church is very large, rich in content, entering the doorway, the walls are painted, each picture is a story, entering the hall, the walls are covered with pictures of pharaohs of all ages, there is a priest waiting to take pictures with everyone in the church.
Hanging Church is one of the oldest churches in Egypt. Its history can be traced back to the 4th century A.D. Hanging one is originated from its unique position, located above the entrance of the Babylonian fortress in the old city, while entering the church requires climbing 29 steps, the black below and the white above also constitute a sense of suspension. Today the ground is six metres higher than it was in Roman times, so most of the Roman Towers are buried underground. Architectural style is very special, revealing the atmosphere of literature and art everywhere. An alternative church worth visiting.
1. Located in the south of Cairo, it can be accessed directly by subway; 2. The church is named for its construction on the fortress of Babylon. It was built in the 4th century A.D. The age of the fortress was from 6th to 7th century B.C. The process of entering the church from the fortress required 29 steps; 3. It used to be the Cathedral of the Coptic Orthodox Church; 4. Free visits.
