Holden Beach has lost what made it special to begin with. Also, pay-to-park is ridiculous, money-grubbing greedy scam.
What was once an amazing beach with a vibrant local flavor has become just another tourist trap with paid parking. It is nearly impossible to find any free parking on this island. Apparently it isn't ...

I never knew how nice holden beach was! I had an amazing time and the local restaurants were all 5 stars! So glad I visited.
Poor
No changing or decent restroom facilities. Parking charge is excessive. One dangling hose to rinse off feet. Needs to take a lesson from nearby Ocean Isle or Sunset beach on how it's done well.

Beautiful beach!!! I got some lovely seashells and a few sea biscuits. I will return next year. I rented a little cottage for 1 night and loved it!
