3 minutes walk from the east exit of Omuta Station. Built facing National Highway 208. Completed in 1936, it is a four-story reinforced concrete building. The symmetrical design has a tower tower in the center. National registered tangible cultural property. At the front entrance, there is a signboard of 'Omuta City Hall' using old characters. It is said that the rooftop is left with the pedestal of the high artillery gun used during the war and the air defense surveillance post, but the government building tour requires only the specified time on Tuesday and Friday to apply for up to a week ago.
I got off at Omuta station and passed by on the way to eat. I took a picture because it was lit up at night and it was beautiful. When I looked it up, it looks like a building completed in 1936 as the main office of the city hall. It was written as "Government City Tamu University" that made me feel history.
The former main government building, which was completed in 1936, has a symmetrical structure with a tower in the center, and has a sculpted chamber inside, which has a high historical value and is registered as a national tangible cultural property. However, due to aging and lack of earthquake resistance, dismantling is being considered, and it seems that it is an issue in the mayoral election.
It's close to the station, so access is extremely good. I was surprised because there was after the battery during the war. I felt it was a wonderful historic building.
