Just next to the Mammoth Hot Spring, the personal feeling is similar to the geological characteristics of the Mammoth Hot Spring. It should be close to the north gate, so there are not many tourists, but this is the gathering place of the big horned deer. In the hot spring town next to it, flocks of wild horned deer will pass here around the evening.

The free cap is one of the typical pillars formed by volcanic movement, and it is very tall in this grassland. The natural deposits make the rock pillars very distinctive. The natural volcanic landscape of Yellowstone National Park makes the scenery unique.
Freedom hat is an attraction in the Mammoth Hot Spring Scenic Area. Next to the parking lot, it seems to be a high pillar. It really doesn’t look like a hat. It is located on a flat ground alone. You will not miss this attraction. It is obvious.
.... We started to visit the lower steps area at the northern end of Mammoth Hot Spring. We haven't entered the step area yet. First of all, we saw an isolated stone pillar on the side of the road. The sign next to it reads "Freedom hat, dormant hot spring cone" (Liberty Cap, A dormant hot spring cone). Read the guide manual. This stone pillar is 11 meters high. Its name was named in 1871 by the Haydn Institute of Surveying and Mapping (Hayden Survey), because it is shaped much like the knitted hoodie symbolizing democratic freedom during the French Revolution. It was formed because a hot spring was long active in the same location, the pressure inside the hot spring raised the water to a high, the minerals in the water continuously deposited slowly, after hundreds of years to form the current conical stone column.
This pillar really looks like a hat. But it doesn't seem to surprise us much except for taking a photo of this tour. Liberty Cap is a point not to be missed in the Mammoth area.
