San Gimignano is a medieval town in the province of Siena, Tuscany, central Italy, 48 kilometers southwest of Florence, standing on a 334-meter-high hill. The entire mountain city is surrounded by stones. There is a stone city gate in the east, south and north. There are squares, churches, fortifications and municipal buildings in the city.
