The best hotel I have stayed in during this trip to Japan. After all, it is the conference hotel for the G7 Hiroshima Summit, and the hardware facilities and software services are excellent. The location is really good being right beside Hiroshima Station which allows for easy exploration of the city. They allowed us to store our bags upon arrival and they moved them into our room while we were out sightseeing. Check in was quick and easy and they had a few extra toiletries available at the counter like a face wash, body lotion and milk lotion which were all nice. The room is a bit bigger than most hotel rooms we stayed in during our time in Japan with access to the bed from both sides. The room was well appointed and had a coffee/tea station, mini fridge, safe, closet, ironing board and quite the alarm clock. The bathroom was nice with a Japanese style toilet and a shower that could get very strong pressure. The bathroom could have used a better cleaning as there was hair from previous guests and the room could use with more thorough dusting as there was quite a bit around the edges like the headboard. The bed was comfy but the pillows were not and we felt our sleep was affected due to this. We were on a high floor and got a good view of the city. Our floor also had a vending and ice machine. The hotel has a number of onsite restaurants and a very nice lobby area. We didn't try any but would be tempted to try the sky restaurants or rooftop beer terrace if we stayed in Hiroshima longer. The rooftop beer terrace was the most tempting but it is only open during the summer months. After looking at previous reviews we felt the breakfast buffet was a bit pricey and skipped it. There is no shortage of good and cheaper options nearby the hotel.

VERY convenient location - just steps from Hiroshima train station. Staff are very nice and helpful. Room was on high floor and very nice view. Since it is in transit center, it is very easy to take trains, trolleys, subways around town. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. They put an extra bed in room since there were 3 of us, but it made the room a bit crowded. The 2 doubles would have been comfortable enough for us. Room and bath were very nicely appointed - I’m not sure about other travelers’ criticism - I think the layout was quite typical for Japanese rooms. It was also very convenient to have the change machine in the lobby to exchange currency. Breakfasts were good and staff were quite accommodating

this hotel was an absolutely lovely experience. The hotel is very conveniently located at Hiroshima station. It has by far the best hotel facilities that I experienced in my Japan trip (excluding ryokans where I have another very well evaluated!). Everything is very well-maintained, cleaned impeccable, and even though the rooms are not too spacious the overall experience is super comfortable. the bathroom is outstanding. it even have an ironing machine for your pants which was a lifesaver. The breakfast in this hotel is by far the best I had in Japan, and it has a mixture of Japanese and western food, adding to it the possibility of preparing your own Ramen on the spot while you’re having breakfast. The overall experience in this hotel was great. I really have no issues that could be improved and on the contrary I have 1 million things to highlight. I would recommend this hotel any day of the week.

The owner is from Taiwan. The service is very considerate and warm. The hotel has only opened for more than a month. From the lobby to the rooms, there are very textured wooden designs. The various equipment used are also very practical (including an induction cooker, a washing machine, a refrigerator, an air purifying humidifier) There is no need to worry about not enough hooks and sockets. It is very suitable for family travel. The indoor space is different from the small indoor space in Japan. It is very spacious. Even the toilet is also very spacious. Stayed 4 nights in semi-double room. Room is located a couple minutes outside the train and bus station but we had a little trouble finding it since part of the facade was covered for renovation work. It is a grand, old-fashioned hotel but it is well-maintained and nice that the ”old” touches are still there (telephone in the bathroom, coasters for drink glasses). Positives: room was large and functional. I believe all the rooms that face the castle are even larger. There was plenty of space for our luggage and it was great to have a decent table as well as a desk space to work from. Wired internet and wifi worked well. We tried both the Japanese and the breakfast buffet - both delicious. As other reviews have noted, the French toast is especially scrumptious! Also nice that the breakfast lasts a little longer than in most hotels. Negatives: old-fashioned but most of Fukuyama seems from the same era. Housekeeping was generally excellent but on one day, our room hadn't been made up and it was already 3:30 pm. Overall, a great place to stay in Fukuyama.

While looking for a place to break up our Western Japan road trip and unwind for 2 nights in a small, luxury property, we settled on Migiwatei Ochi Kochi, a high-end ryokan in the port town of Tomonoura. Pouring through articles and reviews (mostly in Japanese), we felt that it would offer large, comfortable rooms with great views, easy access to (leisurely) sightseeing and great food. As we had hoped, Miguwatei Ochi Kochi perfectly fit the bill for us. The ryokan is a relatively small property with just 17 rooms, but comes with all of the amenities one would expect from a much larger luxury hotel. It was built in 2010, so it's still relatively fresh and new, with very little sign of wear and tear. While it lacks a tranquil garden that some luxury ryokans have (think Asaba in the Izu Peninsula), its calling card is the view from both its common area and all of its guestrooms - they all have unobstructed views of the Seto Inland Sea, as well as of the Bentenjima and Sensuijima Islands not far away. It's makes for a really relaxing vibe, which combines well with the modern Japanese architecture and decor, which suits this ryokan very nicely. We stayed in an ”Upper Suite Room”, the top room category at the ryokan, and features a bedroom and living room as well as a very nice open-air Onsen (hot springs) bath on the room terrace. It's sufficiently large enough to relax and not feel cramped, and - as a bonus - we had meals served in our own room (which is something that is slowly disappearing from even the top ryokans), which we love. The room was stylish without being cluttered, and its earthly tones gave us a warm, welcoming feeling. The property also has two private baths that can be rented - free of charge - by guests. It's obviously larger than the Onsen bath in the guest rooms, so it was a nice change of pace to try it out. Our first night's meal was otherworldly. This ranks among the top 10 meals we've had in a Japanese ryokan. Sure, they have the advantage of getting access to the bounty of seafood, vegetables and meats from the area, but the kitchen staff then take it and make it truly memorable. Yes, it's technically Kaiseki (like at most ryokans), but Migiwatei Ochi Kochi's dinners are exquisitely presented, uniquely prepared and flavored, and meticulously explained (in Japanese to us, mind you) by the servers. We loved the Conger Eel sashimi, which was a first for us. Conger Eel is a delicacy in Japan, but not so unique that it's not offered in many restaurants. But to be served Conger Eel Sashimi, along with the raw liver of the Conger Eel, was definitely a privilege... often in Japan, along with Sashimi comes the liver of the seafood (especially Eel, Abalone, Octopus, etc.), which means that it's FRESH. One seafood that I generally do not like is Mantis Shrimp, but here, it was pretty darned good, which is saying a lot - I've tried liking it before, but never had one that didn't gross me out. It is near Fukuyama Station in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is about 3 minutes walk. It was a difficult place to understand when I went by car. It is close to the downtown area and I don't think it is troublesome for eating. There is also a convenience store on the first floor. The room is small, there is no table, and there is no place to put the bag. Perhaps the meal was a measure against the new corona, each side dish was covered with a saran wrap on a small plate. I think it will take a lot of time. Fukuyama Castle is located on the north side of Fukuyama Station, but you can walk.

The hotel is very convenient to travel near the station, the breakfast is relatively simple because it is a business hotel so it is normal, the hotel has a parking lot, business hotels are not suitable for bringing children.

I highly recommend this ryokan for the exceptional experience including great food, staff & room. My room was a traditional ryokan room with tatami matts but with traditional mattresses. It overlooked the the pedestrian street but was very quiet at night since most tourists visit Miyajima as a daytrip. The staff was gracious enough to setup a futon for me on the tatami matt so that I could sleep traditional Japanese style. Haruka at the front desk was amazing. She speaks limited English but enough to communicate with. She wrote me a very sweet handwritten note that I will keep forever when I asked where I could buy a yukata robe. I had asked her where I could purchase a yukata (traditional Japanese robe). The presentation of the dinner was amazing and worth it. The on-site onsen was was great and was usually all to myself. It has one indoor pool along with a small one on the outdoor deck that overlooks the bay and torii gate. Upon checkout, Haruka escorted me out which I believe is typical of a ryokan. It was sad to leave because of how memorable the stay was! The ryokan was expensive but worth it for the experience. I can't imagine visiting Miyajima only as a day trip. It would be too rushed as there's plenty to do for 2 days. Must sees are the torii gate along with the shrine surrounding it, taking the ropeway up to Mt. Misen (the top of the mountain is about a 20-30 minute steep hike from the end of the ropeway but I recommend it), and finally definitely do not miss Daishoin shrine which was truly amazing. Recommend avoiding Saturday & Sundays as it's very, very crowded.

I went to Miyajima on a family trip and used it for the first time.
