Stamford Plaza Melbourne
4.1/5123 Reviews
Melbourne Central Business District Melbourne|0.59km from downtown
My husband and have stayed at The Stamford Plaza times many times over the years and have always loved it, but this was the first time bringing the kids, as we wanted to treat them to a special night out in the school holidays. PROS - The pool and spa were the highlight of our trip. After reading some previous reviews about the water being too cold we were a little concerned, but they were both absolutely wonderful. The pool area was clean and the pool was lovely and warm. The spa was perfect and HOT - just the way we love it. My children LOVED the glass elevator, this was a real thrill for them and they are already asking when we can go back to go in it again. We did meet some lovely staff during our stay, and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. There is absolutely no view of the city lights (we were looking out onto a wall) but this is just due to the location and can't be helped. The central location is fantastic. CONS - No valet - I'm sure this was a service that used to be offered in the past? Our bags took nearly 2 hours to be delivered to our room, and this was time wasted that we were planning on heading out to explore the city. They only arrived after several follow up calls asking how much longer they would be. We only had 2 towels (and no robes) in our bathroom, even though our booking was for a family of 4. When our bags arrived, we asked the gentleman to please provide 2 more towels for the kids but they never came. We ended up needing to take 2 extra towels from the pool area back to our room. Our 'Indulgence Package' included a bottle of wine which we were told would be brought up to the room. This also never came and I needed to ask for it upon checking out. The real let down though was the buffer breakfast, which was included in our package. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this was possibly the worst breakfast we have come across - I wouldn't even rate it a 2. The coffee machine was broken, and there was no service asking if we would like a fresh tea or coffee. My son had the pancakes (pre-made sitting out with the bread) and he said they tasted stale and crumbled in his mouth. The hot food (eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown) were all stone COLD - not even luke warm. I considered asking if they could pop my plate into the microwave to heat them up but lost my appetite wondering how long it had been just sitting out there. And the fresh fruit was dry and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I wish we hadn't taken take package with breakfast included, as we could have had a hot breakfast for much less $$ from the McDonalds just around the corner. Our package also included late check out to 12 noon however our keys did not allow us entry back in after 11am. OVERALL - We would stay at the Stamford again however I think they need to advertise it for what it truly is - a 4 star hotel. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels in Melbourne such as Crown Towers, the Langam and the H

I booked this hotel for me and my girlfriends to celebrate my hens weekend together. We had beautiful rooms that were a lovely base for a relaxing weekend of dinners, drinks and catching up. The location is great, everything is an easy walk or tram ride away and you have lots of options for dining. The pool facilities being open late was a real novelty and we loved a night swim in the pool. My only deduction for service was that I am used to a higher level of personalised service from my travels, particularly when it is a special occasion.

Convenient location, clean room, modern amenities. We love the generous Hunter toiletries, the Nespresso machine, and yes, the Dyson hairdryer. Felt our money well spent after a very disappointing stay at the Sydney Harbour Marriott, which was a complete ripoff. Breakfast was excellent, served a la carte style, as we picked our meals from a menu. We had two dinners at the hotel’s La Madonna restaurant during our 3 nights stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the signature two-weeks dry aged duck, thanks to Chef Adrian Li for making an exception with our short, one-day advanced booking.

Fantastic design of hotel, loved the vibe. In room amenities are also very thoughtful! Glad there’s no plastic in room and toothbrush are provided omg! Location is close to docklands, but trams are convenient. Views out of hotel is to the west mostly. Couple of problems during my stay, 1. new hotel but there was a tiny poop stain in the toilet, which was surprising. 2. Wait staff at the rooftop Resturant had no idea what their doing. Didn’t properly greet me at the front, waited for 10 mins with awakened stares from the kitchen, and the lad who took my order asked what I wanted as I sat down, no menu offered until I asked and didn’t explain the breakfast menu or check up afterwards. Everyone seemed a little stressed too. Good quality was super! Otherwise a pleasant stay, will be back.

Hotel location is good, shopping and dining are very convenient. But when checking out, I was charged 59.77 Australian dollars for no reason. I called to ask. The front desk said that I used drinks and chocolates and said I drank alcohol. Negotiations are ongoing. Finally, the front desk said that they would go and verify and they would reply to me in three or more days. It is hoped that the hotel is simply a mistake in work, not a malicious collection of undesired money. The good mood to see the Australian Open was discounted.

Superb strategic location Clean Room House Keeping Everday I'm staying in High Floor (upon early request, not too noisy as my room not facing the construction area, thank you so much Brady Hotel for reading my request) It's great for couple but not for big luggage due to small room area. So-called business hotel. It is cleaned neatly, and linen is clean, too. The room is small, but the bed is large, so if you just want to sleep, there is no problem. There is a supermarket within a 2-3 minute walk. It was good that it was easy to procure light meals and drinking water. Amenities are the minimum necessary, and there is a small soap about the size of a 500 yen coin in the washbasin and a shampoo for the whole body in the shower room. If you are concerned about usability, it is best to bring your own. As you can borrow hair dryer if you call out to reception, it is OK. I felt a little disappointed that there was no box of tissues, but I could use toilet paper instead, so there was no problem.

Advantages: The location is excellent, opposite the station; the service is very good; the cocktail and restaurant downstairs are good, and I like it in the restaurant. Disadvantages: The room is super small; the toothbrush set, mineral water, and disposable slippers have to be called to the front desk every time to get them, which is really buckled; the cups are scattered (hamburger sandwich type), the first time I saw it, I slept very well.

A very good location, just across Southern Cross Station. Rooms are made up daily but I didn't get new floor towel replaced daily. Room is a bit small but good enough for solo traveler. There was 1 day when the hot water from the tap was brown. Do note that there are stairs within the building to get to rooms, so not wheelchair friendly. Overall a nice place to stay!

This hostel is nice. I did take some issue to the cleanliness of the rooms. There was several long term guests in the room I had and it was very messy because of it. WiFi was good, but only available in the lobby. WiFi could be purchased in the rooms. The toilets were awkward. A wall mounted soap dispenser in the toilet area was knocked down my first night there but was not refilled for the entirety of my stay. There was no AC, so when it got hotter, it became a bit of an issue in the rooms. Some people resorted to sleeping in the lobby. Overall, it is a decent place, but don’t spend much time there

The facilities are a bit old, but the service is great. The front desk has a tendency to take the initiative to ask about itineraries and make recommendations when checking in. This is the first time I have stayed in so many hotels in Melbourne. After checking in, I called the front desk service four times, maintenance of facilities, chasing supplies, borrowing data cables, changing sheets, and the delivery time was very fast. The concierge was very humorous. The room is not large in square meters, but the sliding door can completely separate the bedroom and bathroom. The bathtub is triangular and comes with an extra TV, which is quite high. Wet and dry separation in the bathroom. The floor-to-ceiling windows face the largest Catholic church in Melbourne, with a good view and sense of history.

Although it was originally designed for a hotel near the concert venue, it was unexpectedly found to be very close to the CBD. The hotel is a tram stop for five minutes, very convenient, and there are also 711 convenience stores nearby. It may be because of the nearby decoration + I was the road idiot at the beginning to find the wrong, but after finding the right place, I found the lobby feels good! The staff is very nice, the room is comfortable and beautiful, the facilities are complete and the heating is adequate. Slippers and toothbrushes need to be brought. Towels and beds are changed every day. Breakfast needs to be added, and you will be asked if you need a parking space. It is also very good to mention the safety of the hotel. The elevator needs to be swiped to pick up the floor keys. With a photo of my sister and my geese. I will choose here later.

The room is fully equipped with a washing machine, a dryer, an oven, a dishwasher, and a microwave. Basically, there should be a complete set of bowls and knives. The only thing that is not very satisfactory is that this apartment is not under construction and is still under construction, so the facade is not good. The apartment occupants had a lot of noise before decoration. I changed it from the 58th floor to the 50th floor. I can still hear friends who like quietness, and that is, cleaning the room once in 5 days. I do n’t need enough supplies. I can ask the front desk for garbage. Sorting and throwing There are garbage rooms on each floor!

The hotel is very good, if you are going to Melbourne to participate in the marathon, it is a very good choice, 7:00 in the morning, 6:00 out will not be nervous, the hotel is a few minutes walk from the start and end. The hotel is equipped with a refrigerator, washing machine, microwave, bread machine, kettle, not suitable for Melbourne food, you can go to the supermarket opposite the Federation Square (about 1000 meters from the hotel) to buy ingredients to process your own food. In all respects, this hotel is very good, there is a very large and very beautiful park in front of the hotel.

Immediately next to the Royal Garden, the location is excellent. The bathroom was large and the shower was quite large. The quilt is suitable for the bedroom. Very surprised to see the hot air balloon in the morning.

It is very clean every day. The door is the tram, which is convenient for travel. The sound of the legendary train is there, but it has little effect. There is no view of the room, and the air conditioner will be turned off automatically in the middle of the night.

Unsafe and awful experience. After returning from getting some dinner my swipe card let me in to reception (8.16pm as reception closes at 8). It did not, however, let me into the door leading to the hallway where my room was. After contacting the AHS number I was told there was a 45-50 minute wait for security to arrive. After waiting 50 minutes I called again and was told that security had been diverted to ‘something important’ and would be another 10-15 minutes. 20 minutes later, security arrived and his master swipe was also unable to get me into the hallway. After multiple calls, where I was told that they were attempting to contact a hotel manager ‘but none where answering’, I was placed on long holds multiple times. Finally in frustration, 2 hours later, I banged loudly on the door and another guest opened it from the inside. She also had been unable to get in, but luckily was staying with someone else who was able to open the door for her. This was unsafe and an absolutely appalling response to what was an issue with the hotel, not the guest. I would strongly advise others not to stay here.

Parkville Motel

A decent, centrally located and cheap place to stay in Melbourne. Opposite Royal Park for exercise/green space. The eastern rooms face west, so can get very hot in summer afternoons. The west wing rooms are likely cooler in summer. It would be nice if the rooms had ceiling fans rather than air con. I was disappointed that the exterior lights stayed on all night. I like to go outside and view the stars. There's enough light in the vicinity to see to get your key in the door late at night without needing the motel's own lights as well.

Wonderful stay. Clean and tidy lobby, corridors and rooms. Had usb charger points in the bedside lamps, nothing major, but it’s the little things! Wonderful pool/spa/sauna area with loads of towels and amenities there too. Would stay here again.

OK it has not good reviews and looks pretty shabby outside. But this place was very pleasant to stay at. $90 for a night and the bed was comfy, very quiet, big spacy room (no 5), very clean, great modern look with appliances, situated in good location. Service on check in was very friendly. Plenty of secure parking. Definitely stay again. Only negative was the water pressure was so slow. That's all
