Part 4 of the Fall Harvest Series presents an opportunity to celebrate and honor the bountiful fruits of the harvest. Taking place at the Savannah African Art Museum, this workshop series aims to creatively commemorate the season in unique ways. On December 9th from 11am to 1pm, visitors can participate in the "Creating a Kinara for Your Kwanzaa Celebration" workshop held in the museum's garden/courtyard area on the second floor of the Terracotta Gallery. The African American celebration of Kwanzaa, occurring from December 26th to January 1st, is rooted in the traditional African Harvest celebration known as "First Fruits." Dr. Maulana Karenga established this event in 1966 as a means to honor African American heritage, achievements, and cultural ideals. During the workshop, attendees will learn about the significance of the celebration, the origin of its symbols, and have the opportunity to create and decorate their own Kinara. This candle holder represents the seven Kwanzaa principles and will be lit each day of the celebration. As seating is limited, it is essential to RSVP for this free event. If circumstances prevent attendance, kindly notify us promptly to make your seat available to others. The old road that has maintained its old appearance, the cargo ship sculpture by the river, the suspension bridge between Georgia and South Carolina from a distance, the exhibition gallery after the transformation of the old power plant, the old tools placed on the wall for visitors to visit, and the pier leading to each household.
