Details

Join the EASTdiscourses public talks series at the East Gallery, located at Norwich University of the Arts, as they dive into the exhibition 'EASTinternational: Unpacking the Archive'. This event marks the beginning of a series of exhibitions and research events focused on exploring the legacies, networks, and impact of the EASTinternational exhibitions. The Norwich University of the Arts is currently in the process of cataloguing and digitising a wide range of materials relating to these exhibitions. This archive includes works from over 700 contemporary artists, curators, and dealers, such as artists' editions, exhibition catalogues, conference texts, audio-visual materials, and more. Rather than providing a definitive account of EASTinternational, this exhibition aims to spark thought-provoking questions about the role of archives. What can we do with them? What potential do they hold? How can we reimagine the way we engage with them to connect the past, present, and future in innovative ways? In this talk, Jonathan P. Watts will host a conversation with cultural practitioners who were involved with EAST or subsequent activities arising from the project. Come and join originalprojects, Kaavous Clayton, Julia Devonshire, Lawrence Leaman, Kirsty Ogg, Phil Gardner, and Maddie Exton for a public conversation, expertly chaired by critic Jonathan P. Watts. This is an opportunity to delve into the world of 'Artist-centred methodologies' and gain valuable insights from professionals in the field. Admission is free, so don't miss out on this enriching experience.
