Join the Modelling Sculpture in Wax course taking place on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd May 2024 in London. This two-day course offers an introduction to the art of working with sculpture modelling waxes. Participants will have the unique opportunity to explore various techniques, including modelling, construction, and casting. Wax is an incredibly versatile medium for creating sculpture, and during this course, students will have the chance to experiment with different types of modelling wax, ranging from softer to harder varieties. They will learn how to build shapes on armature frames for support, as well as how to prepare finished wax for metal casting. Safety is a top priority, and participants will receive thorough instructions on handling hot wax and selecting the appropriate tools and equipment for wax sculpture. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to cast their own waxes from plaster moulds and experiment with wax over plaster cores. This course is suitable for all levels, including beginners. Participants are encouraged to bring along their ideas, sketchbooks, and small models for inspiration. Please note that there will be a one-hour lunch break each day, and it is recommended to wear old clothes and sturdy footwear. The cost of the course is £250, and it will be led by the experienced tutor, Robert Worley (RCA). Reserve your spot now as there are only 10 places available.
